You know you are getting old when you go to get a haircut and the stylist asks what size clipper guard you normally use on your ears.

Old dudes... Film is best stored in the freezer compartment. Many films are still available including 35mm. Try Adorama in NYC. Free shipping on many items. Other sizes include 120 and 4X5.

Custom labs will process these formats. Be prepared for sticker shock. WallMart to the rescue.. "Standard" aka daylight 35mm and 120 film use Process C41 chemistry. Inclusive are Kodak , Fuji and others.

Walmart will send the film to one of many Fuji wetlabs. It's necessary to fill out one of the film envelopes. Takes about 10 days to 2 weeks.

What you get back in 35mm are small prints and a CD . No negatives. What you get back in 120 are the negs and prints. Last batch I sent in was $2.68 a roll. The clerks at Walmart unless they are really photo savvy do not know about this service or the dumb ones will tell you it doesn't exist.

The CDs will upload using any photoshop software or Picasa and probably some others.. The negs in the larger format need to be scanned.

Do I give a shit if you don't shop at Walmart for some strange reason that only makes sense to ten people, five of whom ride Harleys and the other five excommunicated from the People of Walmart site..?

    Nope!

Check with your camera manufacturer for compatible lens mounts from film cameras to DSLRs. There are also several manufacturers who make adapters. Nothin wrong with good glass.

You know you are getting old when you can say you know what a 110 Instamatic is without looking it up on the net, and actually have owned one.

A great deal of the Polaroid equipment was made in Austria by Eumig who are also no longer in the photo biz. Polaroid had some very sophisticated equipment. They made a camera that was very large.. used to take 1:1 photos of famous paintings. The 55PN film and film back for 4X5 cameras is legendary. The sonic sensor on the SX70 was ahead of its time.

The company name is still being used. To find film even if available, one would have to use the specific camera as a test term in a search engine.

You know you're getting old when you look at a centerfold and her date of birth is a year you remember well.
