Mine too, but she is married to a LEO with a big pistola.

Tempers run high. and beefs go down after the checkered. This kid could have done his shit in the infield instead of on the wall. Yellow is cautionary and in racing at that level, passing for better position is done. Even under the yellow the cars are still going real fast and it's sure as shit not a place to be on foot.

Do you suppose the cops took Tony's cell phone and checked for text messages?

Many people probably do not realize that this type of thing like NASCAR has spotters. Spotters are considered safety equipment and you cannot race without being able to receive communication from your spotter.

Even on Sprints? If that kid had done that on a NASCAR oval at the speeds those guys run the outcome would have been similar IMO.

No it doesn't... jumped to conclusions
By waching the video on my tiny phone seemed to me Tony goosed it but after a few more views it seems he maybe saw him late and swerved to the left and kicked the rear out.
Hey Tony's my guy and I know he's got a temper....so ya...my bad...theres no way he would have done anything to harm the kd standing on the race track on Tonys blind side...... everybody has an opinion just like you have so let's just wait to see what Tony has to say.

Much better. Even better would be if the newspaper headlines simply said "Racer (Kevin Ward) killed by sprint car while running around racetrack on foot." Media makes me sick how they sensationalize events just to garner ratings. I even read several comments where readers stated that Tony Stewart revved up his engine and was "laughing" as he hit Ward. They must have amazing intellect, as I was not able to deduct that from the short footage that I saw. Maybe later they will determine that Tony was texting and posting on his facebook page while laughing and drinking a fawty of malt liquor when he hit ward.

Not sure I understand your question. I know virtually nothing about sprints (or much of anything about most any topic for that matter), but I would guess they don't have spotters and that could have helped prevent this. Along with other things like staying with your damn car!

    The question was rhetorical..

Canadigua is a half mile dirt track. The lap times sprint cars depend on a shitload of things but for giggles they are fucking fast and my guess is that they are running in the mid 20's. NASCAR is not dirt track sprints. These pro fast guys drive anything they can. The parlance is "rides". Spotters? Maybe, but I doubt it. Pit crews owners and various chicas with great tits are what ya get in the pits. That is unless like some tracks, no pit passes unless you are supposed to be there.

This is the problem with posts that maybe have good intentions but are BS and ignorance all rolled up in one swell foop. Yes, the kid got out of his car. That was what got him killed, Even under the yellow the cars are going fast. Sprints are very powerful and are cammy. If they go too slow, they stall out. (oot) Many have only a coupler between the locked rear end called an in and out gearbox.

Dirt is dirt and track conditions can vary in short time spaces. Many surfaces are clay. Clay has a tremendous affinity for water an a just a little spit of rain can turn a that blue groove to snot.

This also addresses BS that Stewart "revved" his engine. Even with the front end parallel with the lay of the track the torque could throw the cars sideways even at reduced speed.

Bottom line? It's too bad the kid bought it like he did. Getting out of that racecar to do whatever he thought he needed to do was fatal.

I think that some dudes need to get out of Moto-GP mode and all that PR hype and learn a little something about other kinds of racing or just put a plug in it.

Should I mention bike racing too? I just did, thankyou very mucho.

Even thinking that this kid was run over and killed intentionally is the babbling of one sick motherfucker. (IMO)

It was under caution last year, or year before, when Juan Pablo (it's never my fault) Montoya had a steering linkage (or something) break that shit him up the track and into the jet-dryer. Exploded into a giant flameball. Imagine if guys would have been working on the fence as opposed to sitting in a track maintenance vehicle.

Crazy shit happens on race tracks.

I think it was during the ensuing red flag that Bad Brad Keslowski was tweeting from behind the wheel of his race car.

This makes me think of people trying to beat a train over the train tracks-some make it some don't. Also me thinks of the accident where a family stops in the road on a sharp turn going down hill real fast-no more family when the Mack truck hits them. Accident's don't happen 99% of the time if people use common knowledge of what not to do!:chairshot::ranger::vader::brushteeth:

Should this thread be retitled, "stupid kid decides to play chicken with moving car"?

That's the first thing I thought-well at 20 you think you can stop a moving car like superman. People have to realize your not iron man with a steel suit. Well that was the dumbest thing I saw in a long while. Stewart was trying to scare the Kid, well I think he succeeded a bit too well. I saw that helmet throwing guy, but he didn't use his head. Well at least people now see what not to do like stop on a curve and sit there till a Mack truck turns your car into road Kill instead of getting off the road. Or sit by a bad curve on the side of the road and expect none not to Hit you. At least be behind a huge rock or something. MSF motorcycle school tills you not to set your self up for a accident and use sliders they might save your foot, but no it one of those Harley chains that cut your foot off if you fall instead.:funky::funky::jaw::smash::pound::nelson:
