Damn his bags are about to touch down. I wondered how far I could lean before they would touch, looks like pretty far. I don't generally lean that far.

Yeah his dad verbally strap whipped him and every young wanna be dumb kid on that site. I'm glad this kid doesn't have the money to just jump back on, might have saved his or someone else's life I think.

Plus I hated those silly lights he put on that track fairing.

The absolutely mind-boggling aspect of that wreck thread is that some forumite actually had such a complete lack of introspection as to bemoan the recent string of wrecks of their membership, asking the cosmos "why does this keep happening to members of this forum?"

Damnit man--why does this keep happening to all of our guys/girls.

    I'm glad you are ok-ish.

Let's see here - riders behaving like complete hooligans, and violating every posted law of the road, violating every tenet of common sense, in way over their heads on bikes with more power than they can handle (uh, clearly. How much control did he have over that bike in the one minute before it was hurtling upside down in the air at 70 mph headed for a bad end? "0"). Perhaps a superhyperinflated (but clearly wrongheaded) sense of their own competence behind the wheel, as well as their individual abilities and limitations, not taking the hint from 3 prior accidents that maybe you ain't Matt Mladin (uh, the Dragon is NOT a competition), plus add in goofyass f-in around for the cameras. The natural selection response to the question is that you keep riding that vehicle like it's a 3 dollar whore, and the squid's life is highly likely to be snuffed out (or nearly so) by an inanimate object, and it's no matter of luck. To behave like that, and expect any other outcome is bordering on insanity. Someone else put it very well, that good riders typically share a heightened instinct towards self-preservation, I'd look first at Jr's own sense of self-worth, riding like he just don't give a crap wehat happens to him. He may not, honestly, belong on a bike at all.

So that's why it keeps happening to your members. Dad did a pretty good job of summing it up in 20/20, but he was running right there behind juniorsquid, part of the peer pressure, probably at the same excessive clip for the road in question, having a ball until somebody got hurt. Pretty easy to tell Jr to shape it up after he shames his father, and trashes a $10,000 piece of formerly world-class roadgoing equipment right in front of him on camera for the world to enjoy.

Don't know these guys, not hatin'. Just being objective and truthtelling. I had an accident myself (bike was rear-ended by a car), and I thought about it for eight years before deciding to climb aboard a bike again. Plus making my own notes to self - learning what kind of riding trouble to avoid by paying attention to the mistakes of others is SOOOOO much more fulfilling than making my own mistakes (which likely would hurt. a lot).

    Peace - PD

Supertex, didn't you use to race?

I've noticed a correlation between hating those kinds of lights and racers.

I went up a few weeks ago with a few other VFR riders to the dragon on a thursday, no traffic but we got stuck at the gas station for like 2 hrs due to hail. The guy that is on the pic of the month was there that day stuck too and I talked with him for quite a while! Quite a cool dude and exp rider.. ridden a lot of miles on his vfr and magna prior. I love the photo op and have purchased dragon pics before! Just remember you dont have to trash your bike for a nice lil pic, like joey's avi
