..wl? :witless:

So I was leaving the gym at closing time this evening and some of the other people leaving began checking out my bike - one dufus asked me if my bike was "one of those new Daytonas" :glee: Anyway, a somewhat attractive female asked me if I would give her a ride :playful: I told her maybe some other night (I've seen her there before) because I unfortunately only had one seat.

So after I got home I got to thinking, in a PINCH could an approx 125 lb person safely sit on the 8th gens rear seat cowl (with grab rails installed) if I needed to give them a little ride down a suburban road for maybe a mile or two at slow speed? Would the cowl get cracked by that much weight? How much does Honda charge for a replacement?

I'd bet it cracks and costs around $1.50 per pound to replace.

Hmmm...knowing Honda I would have put the decimal at least 2 places further to the right :glee:

So I just went out to the garage and conducted a little experiment. I put the bike on the centerstand, dropped the passenger pegs, and gently placed my approx 195 lb butt on the rear seat cowl. I braced most of my weight on the pegs and the grab rails but I'm thinking it would actually work for a lightweight passenger in an emergency :witless:

Edit: This must be the stupidest idea I've ever had because I just skimmed through the pages in the owner's manual pertaining to the rear seat cowl and I didn't see a single warning against doing this. This tells me it's such a crazy idea that even Honda's lawyers didn't think of this possibility :glee:

" a somewhat attractive female"?

Can I get an amen?

Did you consider taking the cowl off and leaving it in her car, maybe?

Dude just take it off, there's a rear seat for a reason, smh do not! apply any kind of pressure on the rear cowl cover, unless you know what the fall out will be. Just saying.

The OEM cowl should be OK until you hit a bump.

Being in the semi-boonies in Ogeron, there might be more seat under the cowl on the bike (??) If this is so, in a pinch, and if ya got a tankbag it would be a place to stash the cowl for riding said chica around the hood in a little more comfort and possibly future rewards like comparing abs or conjugal showers after a sweaty workout.

If no stash room for said cowl, and if there is indeed more seat, what could be done is to drill a couple of small holes in either side of the cowl, have a short bungee at the ready and have the local cutie wear the cowl as sort of a color to match skidlid.

When I popped for the mach 1 91, the seat cowl was 100 pesos and change.

Deckrat and RVFR, you guys know there's no rear seat under the cowl on an 8th gen, right? I think on earlier gens the cowl goes on directly over the rear seat but on the 8th gen you have to remove the rear seat to attach the cowl and vice versa.

Well H , could have sworn there was, it was on the vfr on the show room at the dealer, but like you said it's removable for the cowl. Odd , yet I stand corrected, guess then if she is worth it, time to put the seat back on. personally I'm not a fan of the cowl as that where my soft bag goes.

As described, Gator Greg's chica sounds more like a hard body than a soft bag.

Why would you even consider it?

Concerned about cowl...

But have you thought of her vajayay and tock?
And I'm being serious...no ornery here. Not in this response anyway.

Bumps...would you want your junk and tock slamming and grinding down on hard plastic?

We girls may not have the same parts And tock padding, but sitting on even the rear seat as a passenger sux, let alone passenger on a cowl.

I don't need my softies and pelvic bones to be slammed and jammed into plastic. When that area is hurt from impacts or whatnot, it takes days for pain and bruising feeling to go away.

Just speaking for the lady as a lady.

You wouldn't wanna ride on it...hope not sans true emergency...why consider having her? Even with a cushion of some sort over it...OUCH!

I think Pacino said it best:

LOL - on second thought Nelix is correct - it was all just a dream :witless:

Seriously though, A.M.'s right, I think I'll just swap out the cowl for the seat from now on before I head to the gym, it only takes a second. I like to stuff a water bottle under the roomier cowl but I'm sure it would probably fit under the rear seat too.

Why would you have the solo seat and grab handles installed at the same time lol?
Why would you even have the grab handles installed ever lol? I think grab handles are just for emergencies when you have to give your bro a ride.
Anyways you should have taken her number and set up a date, for a ride and dinner. Then gone home, removed the grab handles and installed the passenger seat, so shes holding on to you and not the bike and you could hang out with out smelling like ass and actually worn proper gear
