Supposed to be a true story..

Guy restores an old Harley.. Knucklehead I think. Rides it from down South someplace to the "big shew" in Daytona. Aboot the same time according to the story, the largest HD dealer in the Galaxy opens it's doors (pearley gates,) The guy wants his oil changed and they didn't know how to do it. All this in CW mag a few back.

It's not only bikes , out here shops don't want to work on old cars and neither do panel shops, much easier to just bolt on a new color matched panel that trying to repair a damaged panel, all comes down to costs and you can't blame a business for not wanting to work on them. Problem here is the OP found a shop that said they would work on it but then stuffed it up and then claimed it wasn't their fault

I do have an independent mechanic for my car who will rig any fix for any car. I cannot imagine him saying "That's too old."

Speaking of panels he just cut out my 2000 Celica's quarter panels and fit new metal and primed it. Had no idea a mechanic would handle this, thought I would need a body shop, nope. And it was his impetus. He kept warning me that the rest of the car has no rust so this has to be done, or the rust is going to spread. He looks for things to repair. He believes deeply in preserving the car. Contrast that to the local Honda dealer who doesn't want to adjust the valves on...my '99 Honda! Note: OEM parts are not an issue for that job...What cost? I pay for labor.

The contrast in attitudes is stunning.
