As a fellow Pythonist, I suggest that next time I'm in Perth we gather in the name of the comic messiah and perform the parrot sketch.

Kayaking is good round here. Like riding there is no off season here, just a bit of bad weather.

I also travel a bit. Unfortunately it's rather less fun when you have to work when you get there. In the last few months, it been Thailand, Laos, China (Hong Kong), Mongolia (South Gobi) and Papua New Guinea (Porgera and Mount Hagen).

I read a fair bit, mostly on planes and I get to keep up with the latest movies albeit on a four inch screen.

Ever since I took a keen eye to woodworking, I have wanted to make a cedar strip one of these. But my shop simply is not long enough to build one inside and close the door. Now that would be a project! I have seen some very beautiful crafted ocean kayaks around here. When you introduce yellow cedar into the mix and a little oak trim, they can be stunning. Obviously not as light as these you have here. I don't know how nimble they would be but they sure look great.

There are some shorter designs around in the woodstrip boats, so don't give up on the idea Randy, I agree, they are stunning. I saw one with inlaid dolphins frolicking down the waterline, a real work of art. Funnily enough, wood, IMHO would be considered a super material if someone invented it today in a lab. From a material science perspective, wood is amazing stuff.

As for the weight and performance of wood strip boats, assuming that they're built to well designed plans, they do very well. Essentially they encase the wood strip core in clear fiberglass inside and out, so you could say it's a timber core composite. Surprisingly durable. Wood strip boats are usually considerably lighter than my foam core HDPE boat and the performance is right up there for the better designs in terms of maneuverability, handling, tracking and sea worthiness.

Well. Seeing as some muddafugga B&E'd my garage and stole yet another expensive mountain bike from me just before I was to go on vacation, I went out on my birthday and bought myself a present. Today's replacement for the one stolen would be about $4,500.00 or so. Can't afford that kinda stuff anymore. Also, I don't go off road much at all these days and if I do, it is on a tame trail so I just got myself a bike with front suspension. But next pension day, I am getting a seat post that has a parallelogram suspension.

Looking forward to going for some rides on that pretty thing. Also resumed my hiking, picking up the pace quite a bit this year. Have climbed some lower mountains locally here and several several hour hikes.

Work, read, and swim. That keeps me off the street corners.

I am on street corners for work at least until anti prostitution squad comes along and moves me along. My pimp is supposed to deal with that for me. Gotta fire that lazy ass.
