I can relate - I bought a Honda Valkyrie 5 years ago and put lots of dough in it trying to make it a bike for all uses to avoid buying an additional bike. It's funny, I've spent like 6 grand after the initial bike purchase and still ended up buying a used 2000 VFR because dammit I want something more sporty too!!! It's not about money with my wife, she doesnt understand why I don't want to spend more time with her - why do I need these bikes she wonders? you guys know why and I've stopped trying to explain it. But the good news is I'm done, a Valk and a VFR are the perfect combo of bikes for me and I'm never selling either.

Thats funny, as I was just thinking whats in her cloeset too.
My wife would rather I got a bike we both could ride, not that the vfr doesn't do two up, she likes to lean back not forward, when out on the road she always patting me and pointing to Goldwings...... I'll be making a slight compromise by getting a Honda S2000 then a bike just for me.

Yesterday,I sold a loaded Road King to a guy who told his wife, in front of me, that it was fair trade seeing as he had bought her $32 K ring for Christmas.

    Fair assessment, I'd say!

Often when you make an assumption on people you're wrong. A couple from Panama City came in our shop Sat. and bought our only Screaming Eagle Springer for almost $30K. She bought him this and herself a S2000. You would not thought that they could have bought a used Hyundai at first glance.

    Good for them!

Put on a good Corbin or Sargent seat, backrest, bags, and you're ready to go.

I have Corbin, backrest, and beetlebags. The Gixxer crowd calls it a Goldwing anywho! As for 1 bike....blasphemy!!!

I just got my VFR last May after hunting and looking at bikes for years. I was riding a 1978 GS400 around that I partially restored just to cure the riding bug. She let me get a new bike just to shut me the hell up about getting a newer bike. I think after this one is paid off I could probably get another with no problems. Our spouses may allow us to get all these toys, but they will never really understand unless they are the one pushing for them!

I do not have to make formal requestd with anyone at this time (I am looking though) so it was easy to make the decision in less then 12 hours to buy my new 06. My reasoning was for longer trips I needed a more suitable bike. My next bike will either be a DRZ400 Super motard or a Ural Limited Edition Raven, but it's soooo far off:) I guess the real point for me is- It helps me keep my sanity, riding motorcycles. Besides, this top 10 reasons Motorcycles are better than women will help you justify another one
    10. Bikes are cheaper to maintain
    9. Bikes are easier to operate
    8. Bikes do what you want them to do
    7. Bikes only need one pair of "shoes" at a time
    6. Bikes never, ever, ask if an accessory makes them look fat
    5. Bikes don't care if you look at other newer, faster, better looking Bikes
    4. Bikes don't care if you ride Bikes that don't belong to you
    3. Bikes don't care if you trade them in for a newer, faster, better looking Bikes
    2. Bikes don't care how many Bikes you have
and the number 1 reason Motorcycles are better then women is:
you can ride your bike as long (or short for some of you) as you want whenever you want with no complaints!

I like your top ten list. And in regards to #1, I have a funny story. My wife and I have a really good relationship and equal senses of humor, so one night we were watching Doctor 90210 and she brought up the idea about getting her breasts done. I told her that would be great, but I would rather spend the $5000 on a new bike because I would get to ride that alot more than I get to ride YOU! I did spend the $5000 on a new bike and I do get to ride it more as well. LOL.:first:

My wife started riding her own motorcycle 6 years ago. We only had 3 bikes then. After she got her own first bike a Kawasaki W650, 3 years later I bought her a BMW R1150R. Just the other day I picked up bike #14, my '99 RED. She asked when will I get to ride that one? What I'm getting at is, as soon as she starts riding her own,she won't understand! Good luck.

OK there is all kinds of responses one could make to that comment......but all I would ask is this. If....you have given or arranged or never impeded your wives/girlfriends etc from having or pursuing all the things they want(if verbalized anyway, those minding reading course haven't paid off yet) then why should that be OK? Mind you I'm not big on people telling me what I can & can't do in the first place. In my younger days if I wanted something I got it in retrospect that wasn't a very intelligent way to live financially(lesson learned the hard way). Now if I want something & I want it bad enough to stick to it I will still get it just not exactly when I want it(generally putting the needs of the kids, wife, house first & in that order women leave, sometimes for no good reason; another lesson learned the hard way so kids come first)
