can i now take you all off track and ask who hates gixxers or busas with stretched swingarms and chromed and nitrous bottles all ridden by punk kids who dont know how to turn? oh yeah their trailer queens too.[/QUOTE]

    Smackin!

    Start the thread my man!!!

Those morons come in second to the obnoxious Harley.

The guy I take the 97 to to get work done said something recently I loved. I was picking the VFR up and saw he was working on something, but all the plastic was off the bike so I ask what it was and what are you doing to it?

"Its a gsxr 750 and the owner wants me to lower it and put on a longer chrome swing arm on it and a bunch of other stupid $#@!" He said this with such disgust that it became poetry!

    I just started laughing.

We have a bumper crop of those turds too in lower Delaware.

I can't believe I haven't seen any coments on the fairy boys trailer gadget. What kind of poser ass $h!t is that? Is it real or a joke ad? If its a joke, I'm LMAO. If its real, I'm rreeaallllyy LMAO. For anyone interested, I've got a better and cheaper way to add mileage to your bike. Disconect your spedo cable, hook it up to a drill motor, drill press, bridgeport mill, etc and let that sucka fly. lol
    Still LMAO. :llama:

A harley is a machine. Hate is an emotion and a strong word. I owned one a long time ago, they are a POS!!. Slow, rough riding, slobbering, loud and poor handling. I will never own another Hardley. My little brother, thinks they are the best bikes and I never miss a chance to rag him on what a POS they are. I think that most of the Harley riders are more about image than riding. I do LOVE to RIDE my VFR. Even if it is a 6th Gen LOL.
    Yeah I hate 'em

    Dealers too:mad:

We have a local Honda/Harley dealer here. If you walk to the Honda side of the store, they won't even talk to you:confused: . You can see all the salesmen walking around too--they all have on their keen black and orange Harley bowling shirts with the sleeves rolled up showing their tattoos (sorry if you have a tat), not to mention....don't get me started.

    I hate 'em.

Look, what you're all forgetting is that if you're on a bike, you're a biker. The machine doesn't make the rider. My boyfriend rides a Harley, so what. We are all brothers and sisters on two wheels. Let's get over this petty crap of the brand of your bike and just ride!

    You have two great points!

1.Your definition of a biker is spot on, and most likely your boyfriend is not one of the posuers we've been ragging on.
A simple test is if any biker pulls into a gas station while you two are gassing up you both probably say "hello" and maybe chat wthe them for a moment if possible.

    2. Your last sentence of getting over what brand you ride?
EXACTLY THE POINT! A person may enjoy a particular brand or model, but it does not make them special, cool, etc. or provide them the right to act like a total puke and not face the wrath of those they scorn.

On a lighter note, weren't you having some transmission problems on your 83? I assume you where able to get it taken care of at a reasonable price?

underbraked, underpowered, and nothing but a high priced noise maker (its like a baby rattle for middle aged idiots). i never understood why people ever paid actual MONEY for HD bikes (if you actually wanna call it a bike instead of a steaming pile of crap). if i want a cruiser, ill buy 3 japanese cruisers for what one HD costs.

ironically, HD is part of my favorite thing about my bike. for those who arent 100% up on their early VFR history, the RC24 (86-87 VFR750) is actually the result of harley davidson. back in 85, when HD bought HD back, they desperately needed to drag their sales out of the toilet, cause naturally, the japanese bike makers were owning the market in america. To try and fight this, HD lobbied congress to impose ridiculous tariffs on any bike imported to the US with a 750cc or larger engine. Honda's answer to this was the RC24 (also endearingly known as the "tariff beater", which tipped the displacement scales at a whopping 748 cc's. needless to say, HD's idea had blown up in their face, as the 750 class of bikes was within the guidelines, and just fast as hell for the mid 80's. yay for the japanese engineers who stuck it to harley, and damn you harley for being suck dicks.

if anybody has any MORE questions about how "cool" harleys are, just check out this website:

People pay for image, even riders of Japanese makes. I was at my local dealer a few days ago looking at some of their helmets, I found a Shoei that was damn near a grand, but it had a really cool paint job... and I don't think someone who would sport a 1k Shoei is riding a Harley or that a 1k helmet is going to make you any less injured in the event of an accident. I asked the customer service rep half sarcastically if anyone actually ever buys those and he said "It's not uncommon."

New riders that go out and buy the latest performing Japanese sport bikes are trying to do the same thing, "I'm badass, I just bought a fast motorcycle that looks cool. I'm cool. I'll get all the ladies because they'll think I'm dangerous" Or maybe the guy that drops bills into a custom paint job instead of chrome, hornet's nest exhaust... is he not buying an image too?

I don't blame Harley for making low quality, obnoxious, heavy, underperforming couches with two wheels and an engine. I blame the customers who DEMAND that Harley change nothing by buying their products. If there was a push by consumers for Harley to change, they would or be run out of business. I don't see Harley going anywhere any time soon.

Harley sells the image of tradition, nostalgia and 'American Pride' (I'm not stating those selling points are true) and Japanese makes tend to go on latest technology, fastest engines, most tuned suspensions..... both of those images embedded into people's heads with marketing and Japanese makes don't do any less marketing than Harley.

I WOULD GO ONE STEP FURTHER.
while most dislike harlies or don't understand how they can sell POS at those prices and how anyone could be dumb enough to buy one...there is worse things..

    Squids
What group of bikers has tarnished bikers reputation more than any other?
    Squids.
Wife won't ride, quotes statistics....squids drove it up
Insurance high? Squids drove it up
People look at your bike and say "ooo" like your a squid
    anyways ya.....

You want to get mad at a group of riders? forget harlies, beat a squid with a bat....
    please

Now I always thought of "squids" as new and unskilled riders which would lead me to believe there's a chance of them growing out of it pending survival. The guys with the chain driven wallets and salad bowl helmets have made great financial efforts to get to their level of obnoxiousness. They've grown to where they want to be until the next cool thing comes around or the mid life crisis is over.

as a side note unlike most i have riden my VFR to sturgis from Red Deer Alberta.

Great ride and only a coupld of HD riders where rude. Most of them where nice intresting people who went over the top to be nice. In 06 only saw 4 other sport bikes there....hear they are becoming more popular at the event. Honestly i would recomend for people to go.
