Hmmmm.....11's in the 1/4 mile. r1's are consistanly in the low 10's. I think the zx-14 is running 9's or maybe 8's.

Harley's....fast....maybe the fastest thing to the bar.

zx14 DO NOT RUN 8s. they run high 9s like a hayabusa

maybe you should do a little research before you make yourself look stupid.

btw, a V-ROD is about as fast or faster than your VFR depending on what model you have.

 

I got my VFR World email and scolled down the latests topics and noticed the Harley Hate thread and just had to go read it. It always makes me chuckle to see people pick a particular brand, nationality, pasttime, musical group, sexual orientation, country etc. etc., to hate for no particular reason other than the self-serving reason that it makes them feel better about themselves. My hat off to those of you who did not chime in on the Harley Hater bandwagon and offered a more enlighten view of other riders, regardless of the brand between their legs. I've been riding since I was about 14. My first bike was a Harley Topper motorscooter, which I wish I still had. Since then I've had Harleys, Hondas, Suzukis, Yamahas, Moto Guzzis, BMWs, a Moto Beta, and a Triumph. I must say that in my 42 odd years of riding, I've seen bikes I disliked with just about every brand name on them out there and even more bikes I liked with every brand name out there. I've also met my share of jerks riding Hondas(you don't necessarily meet the nicest people on a Honda), Harley, BMWs,etc and have met a slew of great people on every brand. I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm willing to bet that if you are a jerk or a really wonderful person, what brand of motorcycle, car, skateboard or shopping cart your cruise with has very little impact on your true personality. Yup there are a those out there that want to portray an outlaw image and there are some real outlaws out there, too. But again, the bike does not really determine who or what they are, THEY DO.
So Bubba, I'd say you are a man with some insecurity issues looking for some fellow Honda riders to pat you on the back and say we love you and hate who you hate so you'll feel better about yourself. The rest of us, who are more secure in who we are, will just politely ignore your rantings and feel a little sorry for your family and ride the bikes that light our fires, be they VFRs, FatBoys, Helix Scooters or a leaky old BSA and not waste the short time we have on this Earth looking for people and things to hate for no particular reason. Since we already are pretty comfortable with who we are.
You can flame me me now cuz I don't really care what your opinion is of me. You have pretty much made it clear that your opinions are based on emotion more than logical thought. And I won't debate the issue further because we all know that old addage that arguing on the Iternet is like competing in the special olympics. In closing, I will say that is is sad that so much energy has been spent on this very long thread that for the most part is little more than a whining session.

do you also hate buells? technically harley owns them, and the firebolt and 1125r are dominating machines.

HD dominate drag racing. they are the easiest bikes to make fast in the 1/4

the new HD motors are very reliable. the buells are the most reliable sport bikes around i'd say. that is with the thunderstorm HD motor.

 

OK, you seem to think that Top Fuel HD drag racing means something. When you make the rules that ensure HD & ONLY HD can compete, what have you proved? Look it up if you don't believe me. The rules for HD Top Fuel are such that ONLY pushrod air cooled V Twins can compete. The rest of the motorcycling world realizes how much of a joke this is so they could care less & therefore see no reason to waste $$$ racing a class that NO ONE other than HD actually cares about.

Buell? Please explain to me what they dominate. I think I've seen a total of 10 on the street in something like 8 years.

I must concede that you did in fact offer proof of the worlds quickest bike, this Destroyer or whatever they call it. All I can say is yes, it is the quickest accelerating production bike made. Now, who on earth other than you or SnakeOil actually cares? I would venture a guess that these bikes are pretty much un-available to the general public. I haven't been in a HD dealer in years so I have no idea if a normal person could go buy one. Are you going to drive that POS on the street? Are you going to run the Dragon on it? Are you going to throw some bags on it & tour the Badlands? Are you going to ride from Oregon to Daytona on it? I didn't think so.

Drag Racing is cool, I used to be part owner of a drag racing team. Drag racing on a bike sucks, I simply don't see the need to do such a thing. I would much rather go find some twisties than fry rear tires in a straight line. That is of course my opinion & yours is obviously different.

do you think VFRs are something special? they are just run of the mill sport touring bikes. they aren't fast, they don't handle exceptionally well, they don't brake exceptionally well. so whats your :censored: point, they aren't made to do that anyways, same as HDs

i never said anything about loving drag racing, although it is pretty difficult especially if you don't have a "drag bike"

you're aren't up to speed on anything are you? the xb12r firebolts are well known to be one of the best handling bikes, and they dominate other bikes in their power range. the 1125r is the same way, it has 140hp now. the xb12r 100.

you gunna go "carve" corners on your 500lb VFR? gimme a break dude. there are a thousand bikes that will do it better

get off the HD hate bandwagon, they do what they are supposed to do, which is cruise in style. the V-ROD is still faster than your VFR so you're getting owned by a cruiser. have fun

good for the vrod. It's faster.....so is the 1000rr, zx10r, gxsr 1000, maybe the gxsr 750, zx14, .....what's your point? I didn't buy the VFR to hit plaid speeds. I bought it because it was the best bike for the requirements I had.

It's ok...when I was younger I was into the look a like, poser HD and chopper crowd like yourself. Then I discovered what riding really was when you're leaned over at a 45 degree angle, going 145 mph thru a turn with your knee skimming the ground. There isn't a HD around that can do that.

As far as Buell's being owned by HD, dude, do YOUR research. Up until this year Buell was using HD motors in their bikes. The 1125 is a rotak engine...liquid cooled. Ain't a damn thing harley on that bike.

Now if you'd like to put your money where your mouth is.....bring your vrod down to AR and we'll ride. I truely like the looks of HD's.......they are awfully pretty disappearing in my rearview mirror.

Sure, a VROD MIGHT be able to out accelerate my 2000 VFR. Want to know why that doesn't mean crap to me? I 1000% guarantee I can outride ANY VROD AT ANY TIME. The VROD simply can't handle like a VFR. This is not my opinion, it's a statement of fact. The VROD is not designed to do anything other than look good (subjective) & go in a straight line to the next pub. If you attempt to state otherwise, you will prove that you have about the same amount of brains as a bag of lawn clippings.

what is a VFR made to do then? you're in the same boat as a HD.

a vrod doesn't handle as good as a vfr. but vfrs don't handle very well either. they aren't designed to just like a HD.

just because you were wrong doesn't mean you need to get mad. go the drag strip HD dominate drag racing, and not in top fuel. everyday dudes out there racing. HD dominate. get over it.

the xb12r used a HD engine, the 1125r uses a rotax engine.

I hate the whole attitude thing that most HD riders have that their cool because of their Harley..but I could generalize that for anyone who thinks because they own something their cool.

AND I ABSOLUTLY HATE THE LOUD ASS BIKES. WHICH THEY HAVE TO KEEP REVING TO KEEP IT RUNNING OR SO IT WOULD APPEAR.
