Im not sure what your trying to explain here or show, but ....its been a while since I looked at a VF500 but in most cases carbs are fed by one or two fuel supply lines from the tank (or fuel pump) (1 or 2 supply lines depends on the bike and carb configuration)

The fuel supply lines "usually" feeds in between 2 carbs and then the fuel flows to each of the carbs via the fuel tubes that connect the carbs together.

you shouldn't expect to find one fuel supply line specifically for one carb only. Its likely that the fuel supply is routed to one outside carb, which then goes on to feed the second carb, etc etc. if thats the case here you're missing the brass barb fitting from carb #1

you can see on one of my old 500's there is a brass fitting on carb#1

Someone here will chime in if Im missing something specific to the 86 500 Interceptor

That's exactly where im getting at with this. Whoever owned the bike before me tore it apart and didn't put the barb back in.

Ive been talking with somebody on reddit who also was working on a vf500f he explained that i have to plug into carbeurator #1 which feeds the rest of the system. It appears though that the fitting and also hose are both missing. So they had the line plugged into the wrong spot.

Please forgive my lack of knowledge. I meant to say the hose and barb for carb #1. The rear left cylinder is connected to carb #1 and the line (is supposed to) run to the barb which your referring to. Is there any where i can even find such a fitting?

84/85 are fed by a pump up to the front left carb as straycat has noted.

86 eliminated the pump and gravity fed to a larger inlet between the rear two carbs.

86 carbs are also 2mm smaller than 84/85, advertised for improved mid range.

This model is an 86. So
Would you happen to have a photo or could you get a photo of the larger inlet your referring to?

so sounds like the Capn' is saying that your carbs are not missing the barb they are fed differently which should be visible if you pull the tank off and look between the rear 2 carbs you'd see a fuel line going to a "T" fitting.

I see what you are saying now. The fuel is fed differently on the 86. The person who i was talking to had an 84/85 because the
The clymer manual doesn't say much about it.

Yes, since that is the fuel line. That attaches right to the petcock on the tank.

The open tube on the left is the vent line and does not attach to anything (well... on a 49 state bike) and just points down.
