I am curious Stosh. With the helmet that have the flip down smoke visors, does that visor fog up in colder weather like the main outside visor? I know that Shoei's latest lid comes with the flip down. Mine has been well exposed to the elements for quite a few years now and I should be looking at a replacement in the not too distant future. I am tired of carrying around two visors for my present Shoei and having two different pinlock shields because the smoke visor is not different than the clear one.

Randy, if you read through Daryl's post, #33, he mentions that the drop down visor on his gt-air is prone to fogging. I wonder if the stuff that you can buy to treat diving masks would work?

Shoei RF-1200. Love it. Handily beats my previous Scorpion EXO-1000.

Good question ... yes and no ... mine a few weekends ago only fogged up when I was stopped for a period of time. As soon as I was moving, it cleared right up and could remain down.

In normal late spring, summer, and early fall riding I've never had it fog up in any condition.

You can prevent fogging by using the same methods as scuba divers ... there are various sprays, keeping the visor clean on both sides, and / or no-tears baby shampoo smeared on, left to sit, and gently rinsed off works as well. Just be careful if you use sprays or shampoo that there isn't already a coating on the visor - it can actually remove some of the coating if one already exists and make it impossible to see through. :)

Bought some of that Zooke anti-fog cleaner at cycle show years back. It does work but you have to reapply every time you go riding. Just carry it with you or don't forget to apply before you go.

Prior to using pinloc systems, I found that dishwashing liquid to work the best. Didn't find any specific products fhat worked better or even as good and soap is a hell of a lot easier. Just a pain to keep applying.

I am constantly amazed how everyone on threads like this agree that their helmet is the best thing since Cheesewhiz.

I know mine isn't the best. There are definitely weak points to it. What I do love is the light weight and the Transitions visor. I'll probably buy a NEXX helmet next. Arai and Shoei and Schuberth are all great lids, but unless I want to spend $1000 or more, getting it in carbon ain't gonna happen.

Truth is, it's the best that you know right now. I think with all of the similar topics, you only know what you know and it's based on your experience. Like most things, with motorcycle gear, we stick with what we like and know and hope and pray we don't ever have to call on it to do its job. In the event that it does, we hope the product will at least live up to its price tag!

I have not had a get off with a Nexx but a few friends that race have and they have done their job well. Super light weight too with a large vertical view on the xr2.

    Exactly that!

    He nailed it!
I've used different helmets in the past and have liked pretty much all of them. I've crash-tested a shoei, a bell and a couple others and they did their job.
Been using scorpion helmets for a while and are happy with them.
First of all, they fit me better than any other helmet I've ever owned. A few hours or 800 miles in a day on the saddle and -unlike my other helmets- my head has zero issues with fitment.
Foggy days are relatively non existent in our brutal California winter, but I have no complaints when I travel to other states in winter and the anti-fog coating is a sweet thing to have.
I like the drop down visor instead of having to use sunglasses. Sometimes I hope it was darker instead of light smoke. I know I can buy a darker tint as a replacement.
I like the ventilation system scorpion uses.
I like the fact the they put a tab on each side so I can open or close the face shield with either hand.
I like the push-type instead of the sliding type for vents.
Even though I never use it, I think the inflatable cheek pads are a good feature.
All things considered, I think the price for their products is a good bang for the buck.

I have used other medium to high-priced helmets, but they fail to impress me.
There are a few brands I do not like and would not trust that may or may not be better than scorpion. seven zero seven, and bilt are just two that come to mind.
Is my helmet better than the one you use? I don't think so, but fitment is my number one priority.

Yep. Got a coupla seven eight more cycling helmets too Duccmann. (Pic 1)

Yeah I guess you're right it has been awhile John hasn't it. My project is currently dead in the water and will be for the foreseeable future.
Haven't had much to report on the VFR front so I haven't reported much.

Sorry Randy I can't help you there my friend. That Sedici Azzardo only has an abbreviated chin curtain (Pic 2) and no internal breath deflector inside the helmet so I don't take it out in the colder weather.
