Ooo that was my old Gen 6 which VFRD zROYz honed to perfection with motad headers and Wilbers rear shock and lots of other little stuff before returning to standard and selling. Those '04 R1 forks ( with special internals ) live on a enhanced Gen 4 now.

^ I stand correct. Well sorta, that's a beautiful piece of work, but it's also not stock, some one added a lot of soul, made it like it should have been done in the first place IMO, that's a Very Fine Ride .

Disclamier: I'm in no way bashing the 6th gens, nore leaving out the 1st and 2nd gens in this topic to discredit them, With out the first gens and so on we wouldn't have what we have today. I'm just pointing out the bigger difference in how the VFR was developed over the years

anyone got a beer? that soda was flat..

    Whatever, RVFR . . . .

You were bashing, but if it makes you feel better, you can say you weren't.

I don't necessarily want to offend anyone, but if I do I really don't care too much. I have sharp elbows and I don't mind swinging them. "Bashing" has a dictionary definition, but in my opinion here it means expressing negative subjective opinions without factual basis, repeated time and time again. For example one could say, repeatedly, that "6th gens are very polished almost boring to the point of one doesn't feel any soul" - as if any machine had a soul! Another person could say, repeatedly, that "4th and 5th Generations look like ass and have crappy stock suspensions!" Both subjective opinions, right? OK, if that's what a guy enjoys, fine, but we shouldn't pretend these comments identify objective fact. Rather, they represent opinion biased by personal experience. So, take them for what they are, and make up your own mind about what is the "best" VFR out there. But don't justify your subjective opinion by sh*tting on someone else's ride. Because at the end of that process everyone is covered in sh*t.

For now, the best VFR is my ‘06. I always buy my bikes new because I like to travel, mostly across the USA, so I’ll never buy an older generation and I change every 5 years (80,000km or 50,000 miles).
So for my next bike, will it be the new VFR? I will see next year. [IMG]

VFR bashing between 1st and 7th generation makes me [IMG].

    uuuugggggghhhhh!!!

These 'generation' threads are f-ing endless. I don't know about the rest of you but they are more tiring than what elf/emptyskull/ deepdish used to post.

    To the OP, Matt:

Brother, if we were sitting down with cold Rolling Rock in hand and you asked this question I would answer with the following questions:

    1. Are you looking for a VFR to work on and ride? If so, you already have a relationship with Jamie D. so go with a 86 or under in years.

    2. Are you looking for nostalgia and/ or something to just hop on and ride without much mechanical work? 3rd gen and higher.

But I think you've already answered this yourself...based upon what you've posted look for a decent 86.

    BZ

That's the gift from my last accident in March '09. Fractured my scapula and a piece of the socket. All good now.

Bubba, I agree. But this is an old ass thread and someone revived it.
