Hmmmm, I see.... That's interesting news to hear.

I have a Honda Fourtrax ATV from 1986, and it definitely has a bulletproof engine. I don't think we've ever done any work on it, and it has never really been babied any time in its life. Haha.
We live on a farm and demand a lot out of it as a work machine. Still starts after just a few kicks though, it's great!
It's the main reason I've gone with Honda for bikes so far, because of their history of reliability that I've seen. I suppose we'll see how that continues.

My VTR250 won't be hitting top end much, if ever, and it will be well cared for. It's for the girlfriend, and she is going to be VERY gentle on it.
She's still of the mindset of "Who needs even a 250? Who would ever want to go faster than about 100km/h?" ;)

I'll put some pics up soon!

I just picked up an '89 here in Austin, TX for $550, it has 8600 miles and the previous owner said it had a dead battery and carb problems and actually gave me a second set of carbs with the bike. He has also just replaced the tires and air filter. I removed and cleaned the carbs and generally cleaned up the bike and discovered that his carb problem was just a damaged O-ring and there was a replacement in the parts that came with the bike. Gas cap lock had to be drilled out and tank itself contains some rust but I'll be cleaning that out tomorrow. With a few hours work with finishing compound and wax and the fairings shine like new. I think I got a decent deal so far.

I do have it's big brother,a VTR1000 to mentor it on the proper behavior for a V-Twin so hopefully it will run well.

This is what it looked like before I started working on it:
