Dude great thread. Man I'm all over this one. I've been checking out other models that grab thy eye, 1098 being one of them as well as the Hypermotard. Funny thou after riding them, then my VFR this weekend, it's really hard to justifie the expense for what? Both Ducatis are really nice bikes, if I could I'd buy both, but neither one is worth trading my VFR in for one. Now that said there is a certain KTM that has caught my attention, to bad it looks to be untouchable for us in the States.

Like RVFR, I have had a few peeks at KTM. We have a dealer pretty close so I stop in and see what they have every month or two. Theya re still alittle pricey to me, though. AlsoI am thinking that's a sure fire ticket for me. I really should keep the VFR and get a track bike, but I'd probably have to lose the dirt bike then. One can only maintain so many bikes...

that 848 is real sweet!!! for now the vfr is the perfect bike but if i had to replace it with something else more than likely it would be a sprint or k1200

I'd trade mine for NCB's. The labor he has in his alone is worth 2 gen.6s.

I'm pretty sure the 5g will always be in my garage because I live for the ultimate road trips with my buddies, every year when I reflect back on the highlights of the past year the annual road trips always rate very high on the list. But I might be having a mid life crisis right now because like so many others, the 848 seems like it would be the perfect complement to go along with the VFR, that bike is just made for the tight technical twistys. Since the VFR will likely always be in garage, I wouldn't even think about trading one of the worlds most dialed in VFR's for any other VFR out there, except of course this VFR that all other 5G's are measured against.

I don't think I'd trade it for anything, maybe a black one just like it...or burgundy, or RWB, or white. I love it!

Thanks for the explanantion, I was thinking "when did I offend nyteshades?" I've been staying away from the political debates and other hot areas as much as I can. It's part of my repentance for the Harley thread:wink:

Ok, I've thought long and hard and the only time I could see myself trading the 97 would be for a mint condition Aprilia RS 250.

Although someday I'll probably just sell the 97 outright like I did the 93:confused:

I get the new bike fever in the spring and the end of the year. I love my VFR, but would consider trading it in for a new 2008: Busa, GSXR, ZX10 or an R1. I really like the new (K8) GSXR and the riding position is a little more upright. The new Busa is really refined and great for touring. The Ducati 848 and the BMW K1200S are great bikes, but price and maint. are a concern. The ZX10 is a Hot bike, but Kawis just feel different to me and I would have to really get used to it. The R1 is so sweet but the riding position is not so great for me. Problem is if I trade my VFR for a SS bike I would also need a crusier for cross country runs. Oh well looks like the VFR stays. I also love the Triumph Triple, but I hear parts are an issue with Triumph.

A million dollars, A couple cold beers, and a date with a xxx star?
No really nothing. My 5th gen is not going anywhere. Other bikes? Add a Speed Triple, a 848, and a FJR1300, throw in a 650 dual sport.

Just recently got my VFR, so my eyes have not wandered to other bikes yet.

That said, it would be nice to have a track bike. I'm reluctant to take my main bike out to the track, though I'm sure the VFR would be fun. Probably would pick up a cheap used SV650 for the track. Use to have one and they are definitely fun bikes. They also seem to be what most of the lightweight twin racers are running if I ever decided to race.

I would like to not think about ever trading my VFR at all.... I would add to the stable and keep the VFR as my long ride cruiser and I had been thinking about, and thius is goiing to sound stupid, but I was half toying with getting a Hyosung GT250 or a New Ninja 250 as a comuter.... 50+ MPG as apposed tothe 34 I get froom the VFR around town...

(Begin Calling MrJoelieC and idiot now.) LOL

I'd never trade in my VFR because it's just the perfect combination of performance and practicality.

But if I had an extra 10 grand laying around and I want a pure toy bike just for riding around on weekends I'd get the Ducati Paul Smart Sport Classic:

Yes, I know it won't beat the latest liter bikes but it's got something that the liter bikes don't have... soul. It's hard to put my finger on it but the bike is more like an aged Ferrari that will put smiles on your face regardless of how fast it is compared to the latest and greatest.

K1200S is pretty fantastic... Lucky I don't have to trade for once since there is one in the garage that I get to hijack when the need should arise. (I have notepad with excuses to use).

It will make an expensive trackbike... Can't go wrong with the RC-51, it's a Honda.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that goes through this. I almost forgot about those Sport Classic Ducatis. I rode one last year with Termi's on it and it was a blast!!! I wonder how comfortable it would be after a few miles but the sound and feel are magic. I saw a couple of ZX-14s in there too. That is a bike that has been on the radar for a while with me but if I'm going inline 4 I would do something European just so it keeps some character. The RC-51 in this shot is one of the favorites, not available looking this way over here in the US but very cool. The R1200S is from the Netherlands, a person on one of the BMW forums sent me that pic trying to tempt me with another great bike. Supposedly comfortable enough for long cruises and the bike I passed on to get my VFR!!
