I'm still hopeful of being able to make an appearance but will be a game-time decision. Unemployed, possible new job lined up, blah blah blah....

Had slovfr come by today and check the head. Threads seem stripped to him also so he's gonna surf the net for possibilities. I found head on fleabay for about $140 and parts to do heli coil were running about $200 so I may buy the head with supposedly only 11000 miles.

I've had spark plug holes heli-coiled with the head on the motor for around $100 and had good success. You might check another machine shop. They pressurize the cylinder and use grease on the tap to keep chips from getting in the combustion chamber.

Tink don't forget Reg lives in Cali.... that price would be quadrupled I think finding a head and throwing it on is probably the easier way to go....
now if reggie can get TOE to come out a few days earlier...

true, that was mid-west price. Doesn't hurt to make a couple phone calls.

"easy" is relative to who's doing the work.

Vibranators anyone? I was talking to Don at Vibranators/Ricor about going to R3 in a few weeks, and he asked if I wanted to take some Vibranators to you guys. I can probably fit 4 or 5 sets in my bags if you want them. Lots of guys on here have put them on their bikes and they like them. If you're not sure or don't know what I'm talking about check the thread I posted a while back... http://vfrworld.com/forums/general-vfr-discussions/34044-solution-rider-fatigue.html. Besides the people who gave their reviews on that thread, Marrib and Tori also have them on their bikes and they are glad they got them. If you want them, Don is willing to give you guys the same web special for VFRW members. $90.00, and you'll save the shipping cost since I'm bringing them with me. Reggie, if you want a set for your dirt bike, let me know what your dirt bike is. They may be less expensive and he may be able to do an even better deal for you. I'll bring as many as I can fit, and it will be first come first served. Those who call dibs on them here will get them first. Then, in order once I get there. If you want them I can only take cash.... Oh, and he has a handy-dandy tool that makes taking the old inserts out very easy. He'll supply me with one, so we can install them right there at R3 and the remainder of your riding days will be unbelievably pleasurable!!!

ok, so latest word on Scratch is that I bought a whole engine for $225. I'm gonna snatch the head off and put it on mine, then I can fix the old head at my convenience and put it back on the new engine and then sell the new engine probably making back most of my money... I'll keep you posted... Hopefully I'll have a bike for the ride.

You what??? So, you got a new engine with an old head? Or you got an old (scratch engine) with a new head? Apparently, you get the best head at R3!

he knows scratches' engine works,,,(minus the head of course) swapping the head out from unknown engine is the best option at this time line line for the ride
