What does VFR stand for?

Trying to recall...there is an actual reason...from back in the day when the bike first came out...

So originally it was the VF 750 (V engine config, F for four as in four cylinders)

Then the "r" designation with the '86 introduction....there was some kind of design flaw with the original VF engine they fixed in '86 (I think it had to do with the gear cams) and they wanted to distinguish (and signal to potential buyers who were in the know) that this was a "new" Engine design, thus the R (even heard the R stood unofficially for re-design/re-fined/re-vised/etc).

At least that was the way I remember it..but we are talking 25 years ago at this point

e.g. VF750F or VFR750R

 

Don`t know about those. i belive VFR800 FI stands for fuel injection.
They ought to have called them -- ??? um--- GLF 800 SM --
Go Like Fu-k 800 Sex Machine ?
Unles you think of a better one??
