Bummer, she would of enjoyed it I bet.
Had a problem today when I changed my oil, couldn't get the dam filter off, my end cap kept stripping that I use with a ratchet.
So cut the cap on each side, got a hose clamp and once I put the cap on the end of the filter, tightened the clamp.
Glad it worked, didn't want to do the old screw driver threw the filter trick...
Don't remember tightening it that much....
First time for everything I guess. .. :)
Oh, nice picture with Mr. Daytona

Washed my bike late yesterday afternoon when the rain started since I knew it would get a good rinse! Dried it late morning today and then polished the paint some. A neighbor came up to me with his Chinese scooter and asked if I could look at his front brake. http://vfrworld.com/forums/showthread.php/49892-Ah-China

    Probably saved his life!

Duc, I had same problem with my first oil change on the 8th gen, here was my solution since all the wrench slipped:
Drilled wrench, used self tapping screws to keep wrench from slipping.

No room on the 8th gen get any grip with channel looks, lower radiator doesn't move more than an 1/2 inch without disconnecting hoses, too much work just to change the oil. Just enough room to used socket wrench on filter tool.

Can you 8th gen guys delete the evap canister and get more room? That really helps a lot with the 6th gen.

I bought a couple of the large socket type wrenches and found they were too sloppy or the filters didn't have sharp enough facets for the wrench to grab properly. I bought the bike with 2600 miles on it, so I am sure it had a previous oil change and someone really overtightened the filter. My torture is more from arthritis in my thumbs.

Need a freekin lift, hate laying on the ground and jackin my neck up, needed an ice pack this time around. Hum, rear shock Jamieized, lift or Sebs clutch cover....decisions decisions. ....
I did notice when looking at the oil filter, the evap canister that's on the left, on the right side there's a tube that looks like a hose should be attached, no loose hoses to be found.....its those radiator hoses that are in the way..
    Also did this......

Try a cb-1. Requires a universal swivel and bloody knuckles. There is essentially no room above the cylinder head cover. Using a series of small extensions, you have to gradually dismantle them from each other as your remove the plug. I've found the rubber inserts inside most plug sockets useless. So I came up with my own spark plug socket. Simply take a normal 8 point socket, and line the inside edge with small pieces of electrical tape. One piece for each of the 8 flat sides, then fold over to the outside of the socket so they stay put. That little extra material perfectly grips the hex part of the plug. I've found you're usually good for a complete removal and install before you need to apply new tape.

As far as difficult oil filters, one of these bastids has never failed me.
