^now its all down hill at work, your gona be known as the "motorcycle" person. Need to brake them in.

Congrads on that 100,000 mark!!! I have a long drone to work now, same amount of miles as before, seems more boring as its all slab work, I will start taking a bike in the near future just like all my jobs.

    Cheers.

I cleaned the chain with kerosene and a toothbrush. It's clean now!!! Even the hard to get parts are. Anything I missed was flushed away with the chain lube. It looks pretty good!

Finally got there with some electrical bits. Replaced the 30 amp fuse to battery terminal with heavy duty narva auto fuse holder. Found that the skinny wire leading from the stock honda fuse holder to the terminal was seriously corroded. Apart from the exterior contained by the sleeve, majority of inner strands were black from oxidation. Horrible to think what an electrical bottleneck that was.
Since i have a new stator and rick's Motorsport r/r, decided to do away with plugs. Was recommended heat shrink solder splices and amazing for me at least to watch them installed using a hot blower gun. I am told the joint will be it waterproof and airtight. Fit and forget. Solid connections once the joint cooled down no question.
Battery tested. 13.2 volts. Started engine and from 2000 plus rpm rock solid at 14.5 volts. Good to have got that done.

Knight says he is an engineer. I think he dropped his slide rule someplace. ;)

This one is supposedly true. A guy bought a BMW and followed the maintenance schedule to the letter. Rode the bike a million miles. BMW it is said, bought the bike back from him, put the bike in their museum and also gave him a brand new bike..

At this point the answer is yes!

I was going to do the same so I could clean/lube the eccentric and bearings, but I couldn't shift the axle. I decided to give up as it was preventative maintenance, not something essential.

Apparently just the grease or rust on the axle is all that is stopping you slipping it out. Give it some welly, man!

I found a leak in my front wheel on a bend in the rim. That bend had been there for as long as I've owned the bike and never leaked until today. Got to work with a front flat and had to take it all apart. Luckily the school I work for has an auto shop. Used one of these to break the bead, toss some bead sealant in there. Now I just need to put it back together and hope it lasts the 56 mile ride home.

What sort of bearings are in there ,I was lead to believe it was a double type of ball bearing on one side and a tapered bearing on the other side

If this is the case and the axle is seized against the bearing housings wouldn't bashing the Crap out of it possibly damage the Bearings / races

Or is the interference solely from the splines rusting ?

Just asking as I received my 46mm socket today so I can re-grease or swap out the bearings in my 04 since I have no idea if it has ever been touched

Rebuilt starter switch on the 1st gen. Cleaned and burnished contacts, then used J-B weld to fix broken pivot pin. Should last another 30 years!
