what did you do to your vfr today?

So after last week's deal sucking gas like an F250 truck, i changed the oil n filter.

 

I took my VFR out riding. The shop had a group ride and I always go to help out. The VFR and I did about 160 miles. I had a blast but it started to get really hot around 11am. I have decided not to pay too much attention to the fluctuating numbers on the temperature readout. The only time I got concerned was when it briefly climbed to 228 degrees.

 

Changed oil to Amsoil 10w-40, installed new oil filter, installed K&N air filter and put back on the stock windscreen

Then rode 200miles to the NC mtns

 

Test fitted the projector setup. I would have done it all if would have had the ignition boxes with me.

i dont want to Bucher up the Airteck just yet. Not till im happy with the whole package.

 

Rebuilt the clutch hydraulics...again. When I brought the bike back to life the only thing I replaced was the rubber stopper in the slave cylinder and the clutch was functional but would bleed off pressure (change in contact point) while sitting for a long time at a light. About two weeks ago, I ordered the master cylinder rebuild kit and installed it. Nothing but problems since then. The clutch engagement point was inconsistent and seemed like it was hanging up, then engaging (hate stalling a bike...anywhere). I ordered a new slave spring and shaft seal washer and installed it last night. I noticed that the slave plunger (metal) still had a little old buildup. A few minutes with a scotch brite with brake fluid as lube and it cleaned right up. I then greased (just a film) the inside of the slave cylinder and the clutch rod cup. Next, back to the master. I pulled it apart again and noticed a rough spot just on the other side of the vent holes. Again with the scotch brite wrapped in a screw driver to rub it out. All back together now and working perfectly. :tranquillity:

 

So i was back at it again.
Replaced the wire harness. Then was greeted with a dead stator! It was grounding. Since i have a spare engine, i just did a swap. Charging at 14.8 volts now. Will have it all back together in the morning.

 

Been there, did the wiring harness on my 91 a while ago. I installed a new r/r the other day and just started it to check charging. 14.25 at 3000 rpm, up to 5000 rpm stays about the same. Old r/r was at 13.80 or so; its amazing how well that motor sounds I gota say even with all those miles. Both r/r were are Mosfit btw.

After 20 years, the RR finally died. I replaced it and reset the timer for 2035.

 

Since I just got the bike this week, I changed the oil, checked the air filter, cleaned and lubed the chain, and took a short ride!

 

Drove to the border to pick up a bunch of parcels which included new riding boots, backup thermostat, voltage readout, GoPro sticky mounts, tank protector, and an extra helmet visor.

I washed the biked today and also started test loading it with all my gear for the trip.

Tomorrow, I'll mount and hook up the voltage readout, and finish loading the bike up so I can set the suspension.

Later this week, I'll be replacing the front tire and all the brake pads ... then I'll be set for the trip.

 

Been a busy weekend.
Replaced the chain and sprockets.
Flushed the coolant.
Changed the oil.
Discovered that there were missing bolts on the fairing so I replaced the four that are holding the piece in front of the exhaust. Relocated the others to any other missing places.
Installed the passenger grab bars purchased from eBay for $108.00 USD.
Took her for a spin around the neighborhood. She is just about ready for the Sturgis road trip.

Well i ordered a new tire.

 

Picked up a complete R1 front end for my winter project.

 

shimmed the rear shock 4mm the front already is lowered 10mm. I'll see if it needs more or not after a nice spirited ride. anyone have some input on the matter
