Finally rode it in to work :eagerness: Really noticed the need for fork seals (ordered yesterday) and though it ran cool all the way, it heated up a bit when I exited the freeway. I'm hoping a thorough rad flush and new thermostat will correct that.

I do not know what kind of headlight is in my Viffer. I have been riding with what came with it but, on a trip down to south Texas, in the middle of the night, I was causing my buddy to cast a shadow with his Triumph Tiger in front of me. My light is so good I could see the eyes of the deer standing in the trees beside the road. That's really spooky.

    Re-assembled the front head.
Remembered out how to (correctly) use my torque wrench (if you are reading the Nm specs, be sure you are using the Nm guides!)
Found 3 bolts that I forgot to put back in the REAR head. THAT could have been bad.
Started looking for carbs for the 87-700

Changed the oil on the new VFR (Amsoil Synthetic), put old Amsoil oil in 83 VF750 to flush out remnants of old oil that had been sitting for 15 years. Will run for short time and then put in fresh Amsoil. Cleaned all the fairing parts while they were off.

Well really it was over the holiday weekend. 1200 miles ride up through WV to W MD groom SC. In and out of rain, camped a bit. The GTR bars did well and it was nice to cruise farm valleys without disturbing locals with noisy pipe. A bath is in order for VFR.

4th of July weekend, I installed Helibars, R&G Frame Slider, and exchange my black powder coat with Long's chrome. Thanks to Darryl and Long. Also flush coolant and replaced Engine Ice.

I did it myself using router. I recommand hole drill bit because where to drill is not flat. It is right at end of air filter some flat and curve surfaces (6th gen, not sure the other).

Started my brake fluid replacement ... ran out of time and had to go to a party ... almost done though.

Damn stuff looked like deep fryer oil .. ugh .. previous owner certainly neglected this particular part of the maintenance.

First off VFR, great job on the sliders. I've started to look for a place to put some on my 87, this will be a challenge.

Now, for the good news: I get to post what I did on my now-running bike. After about a week of commuting, I couldn't stand the fork seals anymore. Pulled the forks, drained the remaining oil (maybe 12oz together, and installed new seals. Easy job after all. I went with 15wt oil and no air (87 has air chucks). I need to give it a little time to see if I'm going to keep it, or go to a 10wt at some future date. But wow, what a difference. I no longer bottom out at 3mph pulling in the driveway. Tomorrow morning, clutch master cylinder rebuild and start looking for the squeak I cannot locate.

Oil and filter change. The H&N filter had a very slow leak, second one to do this. I had 3 K&N filters and I think after this one I'm going back to Hi Flo. Never heard back from K&N after I sent them the first one that did this. K&N 204.
