Pretty sure i've got the top out springs in correctly as the lengths of them fully extended is identical, the only weird thing is that the fully compressed lengths are different, but for all i know that could be normal as the trac junk makes the guts different side to side. I'll pull everything apart again and double check the orientation though. Thanks for your input, you could very well be right so i'll double check. Still enjoying the 96 day to day while waiting on parts here and there to get the 86 up to snuff.

Just got back from vacation and had to time to pull the stator flywheel since my $9 bolt errr i mean tool came in. I was trying to break it free with a ratchet by hand and it just would not come loose, thank god for rattle guns. Quick pull of the trigger and it popped right free. Cleaning off the gasket surfaces is such a pain. I brought the stator cover in to work to scrape in my off time i hate it so much. I figure if i'm getting paid for it the sting might be less.

Took the Albinogator for a nice long ride in the country with a buddy who has a Kawi Concours 14 this weekend - got to see some oranges, cattle, horses, a bicycle race, triple digits and a FEW curves. Caution - this is a very long and boring motovlog - but at least I predicted the winner of the Super Bowl correctly :glee:

LOL - yeah I must have had over 3 hours captured on video - I only uploaded part of it and it's still enough to bore me to tears - it's actually considered the hilliest part of Florida - very sad!

Sorry I misunderstood that the forks were different lengths extended, but you say they differ when compressed? I don't think that sounds good at all. The legs definitely should bottom out together. Do you have the "normal" amount of travel specified in the manual?

My guess is that it might be normal when the forks have oil in them for the bottoming resistance to be different, I'd expect the TRAC side would be easier to bottom than the non-TRAC side unless the TRAC valve is closed. It certainly is normal to have to push the forks to bottom in the last 25mm or so, to overcome the increased resistance of the hydraulic anti-bottoming design.

Photos are great but nothing beats four hour videos that include really cool gas and pee stops.

With the help of sfdownhill, got the 01 up on the Pitbull stands and placed where I can now park my car in the garage.

Oh yeah, and I started collecting parts for hopefully an eventual rebuild...

Your attitude is something we can all remember and emulate when we are faced with accidents or dillemas. Such a breath of fresh air! Frame of mind can do great things for you.

So happy you are having a rebuild! Sounds fun! Quality time with moto!
