Finished the brake pads. They weren't nearly as worn as the rear, but replaced and cleaned things up anyway. I also got grippy orange nitrile gloves. :)

Now I hope for uneventful test ride.

I went on a 100 mile canyon ride. 77°, sunny and warm. Kind of windy at times, but much fun. Confirmation that the T30 EVOs grip nicely, full throttle, first gear rolling out of a tight turn, still leaned over. No slip. I'll deal with a little less life...

Well I had a ride planned yesterday but the head cold that I dodged the week before hit me on Friday, so I had to stay home yesterday. Feeling better today, I decided I wouldn't stay cooped up in the house so did a shorter version of my PCH ride. Temps on the coast were in the upper 70's and low 80's closer to home. Although nothing near what was planned for Saturday, at least I was able to ride somewhere today!

You guys down there with your weather.. shm. ;) No vfr outing, though I did measure this and that with some figuring out if, as it was a bit on the cool side at 44 for our high, so jumped on the CRF450, I tell ya that thing is squirrely on the road.

I decided that my ST1100 was just too damned hot to ride today; the fairing takes away all the nice cooling breezes. Instead the VFR was pressed into service, and after 20 minutes of re-acquaintance (where'd the weight go? why are the bars so low? wow, BRAKES!) I had an absolute blast enjoying boundless ground clearance, quick steering and unflappable suspension. Life is good!

Yes, its a cigarette lighter socket. You just plug a USB adaptor into it and your good to go for GPS or phone. Note that it's only good for 1amp output so it'll be a slow charge for a phone.
If you want to run a GPS/phone up front, well you can mount the outlet up front near the handle bars. The cable is plenty long enough. Problem is that you have to mount it somewhere which means drilling holes in the fairing or doing something to mount the plug up front, and I couldn't bring myself to make any holes in the fairings.
I run a simple USB extention cable, 1.2 metres from the socket under the seat, along the petrol tank under the black plastic trim and out at the front of the petrol tank and then plug the GPS's cable into that.

There are the generic kits that wire directly to the battery that'll give you a power socket. This one from motorrad is pretty good. it's long enough to run anywhere on a bike, but it's up to you where and how to mount it.

Two thumbs up from me. Very neutral steering, compliant, and seem to be wearing very well. They feel a little rounder in profile than the Z8's I used previously, flatter in the middle and the sides roll around more (if that made any sense).

Waaaay back when (my guess is 1987) personalised plates were first released in New Zealand, and a friend suggested I should buy one. I had no idea that fewer characters were better but happily the salesperson suggested V4 to me, and I bought it for the princely sum of $300+12.5% GST and stuck it on my VFR700.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I've owned the plate ever since and have swapped it around to various vehicles, but obviously it looks best on the back of a VFR.

Oh, and I'm not paranoid about such things!

My local GP is Chinese with a surname of OOI. He has DROOI on his car, I haven't the heart to tell him I initially thought it said DROOL.
