Finally able to head home today from Sacramento. Took a little detour from the long slab ride know as "the 5" and went through Highway 33 from Venticopa to Ojai. Such a nice road and very few people going in my direction too! Saw two motorcycle cops going the other way. They were doing their thing and I was doing mine so no performance awards were given. Almost did another rabbit chase while I was on the 5, it was with some girl in a Hyundai SUV. She was moving at a buck and quarter at one point and since my gas gauge was reading low and not knowing exactly where I could fill up next, I backed off this one. Plus a little too early in the morning for me, I still hadn't had my coffee yet! Have to say she either was oblivious as to how fast she was going or he was on a mission!

Replaced all the rear hub bearings and seals.
Noticed a few weeks ago during a routine check, that my rear wheel had a tiny bit of play, so bought everything I needed.
Only the needle bearing and a couple of seals and an O ring was sourced OEM.
One seal and three bearings from bearing shop.
Took around 3 hrs to do, now all new and clean.
    Good for another 100,000kms.

May be those happy pills...;) The color is described as "gun metal".

Maybe the fat guy from that outfit where they go on and on like shills on the Sales Channel can get the pink one's for Harleys.

Happy pills can be several things from tranquilizers to synthetic opiates. It's slang and has no specific etymology.

I suppose that if black is the new grey or vice-versa, then the solution may lie in a couple of pesos worth of rattlecan barbeque black.

I did the Mofset Rectifier a couple of weeks ago. I can rest easy, now.

I took the Speedo Healer off of the 599, that was originally on the 919, and put it on the VFR. I double checked it with my GPS. Right on the money, now. If you want the wind taken out of your sales, get a Speedo Healer. The bike that you once thought was so fast, is now just another bike.

Mine seems to read about 5 KPH higher than the GPS at 100 so I just leave it as is and try to forget so when I try to stay less than 20 over it will hopefully make it easier.

In the aviation arena how many aircraft are using the mesh? I also hear they are used a lot in industrial equipment and the marine industry too. The only draw back i can see is long term storage and condensation in the crank case.

Ya know most of the aviation uses a filter that's a spin on cartage that has a resin-impregnated cellulosic micronic filter media. just a step up from the automotive world. some use a cartage canister too. still the same basic filer media. Now turbines use a mix of both metal mesh and fabric cartilages, as mention fabric grabs water. a lot of Redundancy here, no doh. that and 95% is gear box .

I remember always draining some fuel on planes to check for water as a standard every flight check.

Yeppers, that's one of many pre fight to dos, check for water, yea fuel filters is a whole other subject. lol, in aviation you only get for the most part one chance to do it right.

Put on a new RK chain/sprocket set. Also fitted a new Dunlop Sportmax III and a set of Galfer brake pads. Now to flush the old fluid.

The over-haul kits that we used came with a beautiful metal filter that had associated o-rings and clips. It was held on with a bonnet cover with a bunch of 12 point nuts. Bear in mind that these were used for filtering fuel, not oil. I was told when the mechanics received these freshly over-hauled units, they would install a new filter. Old filter = $500.00 and basically "run-in" with calibration fluid. New filter = priceless. Guess it comes down to covering your own backside (which is'nt a bad idea when you could have a plane fall out of the sky :loco:) I go with stock OEM oil filters for my bikes, cars I use Fram, Motorcraft or Mopar for my Jeep-sis. Anyway, motor on :vtr2:

Changed the oil, then flogged it on Mulholland. I learned a few things. I need new coolant, so I'm going to skip the anti freeze and use water and Red Line Water Wetter. It got up to 246° today. True, it's tight, twisty up hill and down, at higher revs, but still that's pretty hot!

I also found out that I need to bleed my brakes and get better pads. Hard braking was too hard, ie, too much effort. I know the previous owner put Galfer pads on it, but I don't know which ones he chose. They seem to lose stopping power when they get hot. At times, I was really squeezing the brake lever hard!!! Of course it must be mentioned that I was braking late and hard, but I've had much better braking power with EBC HH.

Also, I've realized that I need to stop running sport touring tires. I'm all the way to the edge of my Bridgestone T30 rear tire. Zero chicken strips on my back tire, with about 10mm up front. I'd like some rubber with more shoulder on the rear, at least match the front. But I'd really like more rubber there when I'm leaned over. Zero slips or loss of traction, even hard throttle in first gear, picking the front up while leaned over, coming out of a turn.

Lastly, I need to get my bike properly suspended. I touched the centerstand down a few times in turns. I'm going to shim the shock up a bunch, but I do really need to get Jamie's touch done to it.
