I rode my VFR today for some mototherapy.

Back out right now for some night riding on my own. The temp gauge registered 50F at one point. Glad i brought my heated jacket liner and turned my grips on.

Tomorrow I do a much needed oil change and wash my bike.

I like the post of Mototherapy! That is the reason that I have had and will have a bike until I die! And I am sure that is most of us feel when we get on the saddle! Fu.. Work, the issues at home and just figure it out on a ride. Done and happy!

Rode up to Paso Robles for breakfast, picked up a new chain and sprockets. Going to learn how to install them next weekend!

I left the house around 6:20am so I could get to the Honda shop to join the monthly group ride. I was bopping down 121, toward McKinney, and topped a rise. I saw an Anna cop coming toward me on the other side. I saw him slow and as he did I headed for the shoulder. I was already slowing for a stop when I looked back and saw him make a U-turn with his lights blazing. I was off the bike, helmet and license in hand by the time he rolled to a stop. He said “I got you going a little fast. 76 in a 65.” I responded that it was true and that I was riding with my head up my ass.” He took my license, asked if my insurance was current and told me that he was going to write me a warning ticket, which he did and which I now have in the clear part of my tank bag.

Here is the dirty little secret. Up by Westminster I passed two cars and found myself running a buck ten indicated which means I was probably doing a real 100mph. I slowed because I didn’t want to get a ticket for that. I love Sunday morning riding. There are very few cars but the cops are still out in force.

The group ride was fun, as always. We rode up the Pelican's Landing on Lake Texoma for a really good breakfast buffet. There was a guy on one of the cleanest VF1000Fs I have ever seen. Take a look.

First awesome day of great weather.

So I Introduced the beauty of the V4 to Hardley dude (that had come up behind me several miles back) who tried to whip wide on entrance ramp to highway and show me what his hog would do. I would say his V-Twin was about half as good as my V4. Case closed.

I rode to Palomar with some OCMoto members and two VFRWorld members. Turns out all but one of us were on VFRs, even the OCMoto riders were on VFRs! On the way home I got stopped on the freeway along with everybody else, in both directions. It seemed that there was someone threatening to jump off the over pass near the Beach BLVD exit of the 405 freeway! I didn't see anyone jump, but other motorist were claiming it happened. Hopefully the person didn't actually do it and was able to get help.

I almost rode out to the end of where everyone was stopped, then thought about it, I don't know how long they'll keep us here, so I stopped under the over pass just before the end of the traffic stop. There was actually a cool breeze blowing every now and then, so it wasn't too bad.

All the better for lane splitting!

Diving Pete, most "Hog" riders do use the space between the two sets of double yellow lines, they think it's a special lane just for them, however based on the guidelines, the actual act is called "lane sharing" and requires you to be in the actual car lane and not over or on the painted lines. So either to the left of the white line or to the right of the second double yellow lines, hence lane sharing, however everyone uses the term lane splitting. Six of one, half a dozen of another I guess.

Cleaned the bike this weekend so it felt extra special riding it this morning. leaving for work in the dark on hwy 24, noticed a bike behind me passing cars then finally passing me only to slow own to the speed I was riding. A nice obnoxiously loud Harley. Just what I wanted in front of me to make the pleasant sunrise ride perfect. He didn't keep going faster though , he just wanted to be in front. V4 to the rescue, as I pulled out to pass him he actually accelerated to not let me by. I pulled up beside him, nodded to him then continued past him at a much quicker pace. He didn't try it again. Felt a bit like a squid doing it but it did feel good...

Putting an attention hungry self absorbed (by his actions) Harley rider in his place sounds like alot more fun than I am having getting my recently acquired gen1 going. I rode it home and I guess it run OK but no way I would do any serious riding given its age and condition.

Put in a new fuel filter and found a bit of super fine rust dust in the old filter, figured out where my fuel pump power wire is (for priming), and finished flushing and filling my front forks (atf for now ). I got a feeling I will soon end up separating the bottom tubes to do seals but for now the need to work so I can test and tune the engine, when I get the carb rack back on.
