I'm crazy. IN 109 degrees when we headed out for a 3000 mile trip, I wore full on black leather jacket with full armor and blck leather pants with full armor. I knew it was gonna be hot and uncomfortable, but I also knew that when I got to the twisties, I'd be pushing it. I admit I'm fiending for an aerostitch suit. I just can't scrounge up the funds yet... Any chance they'll give me a test suit for an extensive write up on VFRWorld?

I've seen that in here in Cali. Death Valley, July 4th weekend. The place is empty, and HOT doesn't begin to describe it. But it's so nice and empty (not a fan of crowded parks, kinda misses the point).

My truck was handling it ok, but it was REALLY prone to detonation if I wasn't careful. The A/C on full, all the time didn't help, either.

Thanks for all of the advice. Landed up buying a Tourmaster Intake 2 mesh jacket yesterday. It was a choice between it and a comparable Joe Rocket -- landed up going with the Tourmaster mainly because it had two separate inner "jackets" (one strictly for waterproofing and one for insulating) whereas the Joe Rocket only had a single waterproof/insulating inner jacket so lacked the slightly higher degree of versatility.

Did not feel particularly comfortable when I put it on at first whereas the Joe Rocket did. But the point is that for the jacket to truly work for its intended purpose it needs to be cut for the position you will be in on the bike, which is leaning slightly forward with your arms extended in front of you. Once in this position the jacket felt great.

Tested it out that same day in 107 degree heat. Hot is hot and a jacket is not going to change that, but the mesh was a lot better than the Kevlar shell of my Aerostitch Darien Jacket. The worst thing about the Aerostitch was I continually had a layer of sweat on my body -- even when moving and all the vents open (talking about 100+ heat here), but the breathability of the Tourmaster meant that the sweat for the most part would evaporate. I would rather by hot and dry than hot and sweaty.

Going to look into those Nike dry-fit shirts when I get an opportunity.

Took the jacket out for a 160 mile test ride early this morning along the beautiful Beeline highway here in Arizona. At speeds of around 70-80 miles per hour the temperature sweet spot for the unlined jacket (for me) is hi 70's to low 80's. Below 75 I would think about including the insulating liner if I knew I would be rinding at that temp for an extended period. Above 90 degrees things are warming up but still not quite unpleasant.

Overall I'm happy with the jacket. It's comfortable and decently made. Only issue for me is that the sleeves could be a little longer - not a problem in summer, but maybe later on in the year it will be -- the solution is reasonably high-coverage gauntlet gloves if it comes to that. Then again maybe I can switch to my leather jacket, or maybe my Aerostitch Darien with its liner. Damn! am I the only one who seems to be filling my closet with more bike clothes than I can wear!!??

I don't know, I've got 3 leather jackets, 1 Textile jacket, 1 1pc suit, 2 leather pants, 1 textile pant and a set of chaps for the street. I won't even go into the dirt gear! 5 helmets, 4 pair of gloves and only 3 pair boots.

You'll like the nike dri-fit. A local store had them on sale this weekend so I picked up 4 more shirts. It'll rock your socks off.

I always use athletic works moisture wicking underwear under the suit. My suit was custom made for me and there is no way in hell I can just shrug mine off. It is very comfortable on the bike, but when off, you really don't want to walk around in it much. Thanks for the tip though.

Oh, Oxygen...bummer...sorry to hear and see it. But you are teaching a valuable lesson.
(And by the way, that OTHER VFR site makes pictures like Oxygen's forbidden. What is with THAT? I know some people get carried away with those pics and I know that young people might be reading this, etc. but what is so wrong with some learning by photographic example?)
