I replaced my sprockets adding two teeth to the rear and have been very happy with the results. Especially noticeable is an improvement in upper gear roll on performance. The engine rpm / Kmh relationship did not change as much as I thought it would...engine rpm is only up a couple 100 at the same speed and the bike likes accelerating more in the higher gears. I did have one problem after installing the front sprocket however. Turns out the aftermarket sprocket is narrower in width than the stock one and I was getting errant speed readings. What had happened was the plastic speed sensor hub was just barely making contact with the sprocket bolt head. A couple of washers under the sproket bolt brought the head out far enough to engage the speed sensor hub properly...problem solved. I took a close up pic of the rear sprocket and new chain if you are interested.
I read about the differnce in widths of the stcok front sprocket compared to aftermarket. I looked at both side by side before installing and they appeared to be the same width, or very colse to it and after putting it on it sits the same as the stock. So it only chanegd it a couple of hundred rpm then I am still good to go. lol. And I have noticed smoother acceleration since the converstion the a 520 chain. The vortex sprockets went on with not reouble what at all. I am very pleased. Thanks for the reply Webbfire.
So if you had to do it again would you go more teeth on the rear a couple hundred rpms dont seem bad at all any inputs appreciated Ray
If i had to do it again, I would either go down one no the front or up 3 on the rear (its the same thing really). In fact, I may order another sprocket, probably a 46T rear
