i believe i'm successfully booked at hotel de drewl for 2 nights. it's the 3rd night, saturday at the fitzgerald i'm having a little difficulty.

as for the fitzgerald hotel in reno, the online reservation and 1-800 number won't allow me to book just one night. saturday night. something about a 2 night minimum. are you f'in kidding me. i'm sorry but reno isn't exactly the gambling hub of the west. frankly, it's quite a dump if i remember correctly. with the right group of people, i'm sure it can be a hell of a party despite it's, well, the fact that it's reno. nothing against reno, it's just living in the shadow of vegas.

i have to leave sunday and be back to work the next day, hence my sunday departure. anyone else running into this "i can't seem to book only 1 night problem?"

and is anyone else booking at other hotels with success?

Sorry you are having issue with the Hotel. Did you call them directly? You also might see about rooming with someone.

    Try the Silver Legacy. It's about one block from Fitzgeralds, and I've already rattled on about why I like it;

Reno Hotels - Silver Legacy Resort Casino® - Reno Nevada Hotels

    The number is 800-687-8733.

Racing is the weekend B-4, so we confirmed our (My neighbor & I ) for this weekend in Tahoe, & hopefully we'll meet up.

Looking forward to sliding the pucks with you all on the back roads.

we are heading out Fri night & shouldn't take us more than 7 hrs to the hotel (radar detector & lack of law enforcement permitting ).

& will be leaving @ 3pm on Sunday (I'm a working man again ).

I'm betting this will be fun :vtr2:

oh & Jason, look forward to meeting you :vader:

    Just kidding

Ok, time to brush the dust off of this baby.

It sounds like the Silver Legacy (or Atlantis) might be a better choice in Reno based upon some members suggestions. Everybody ok with that?? It is not necessary, but it would obviously be much more fun to have everybody in the same hotel.

Right now (unless we get a great group rate) the Silver Legacy is SOLD OUT on the 23rd and 24th!! Unless we have reservations there... What about the Circus Circus right next door? The rates look like about $160 for both nights (Sat and Sunday) They have covered parking as well and we're right next door to the Legacy plus they are running about $80 a night. Not trying to be cheap but i'd love to save $$$ when i can since gas is so expensive... But no matter what I'm game!! Let's ride!!

That is a glitch with their online reservation utility, SS. I called them earlier this evening to find out about a group rate (and also what "CLSD" on the reservation page meant...) and found out that there are currently rooms available for those three nights, but I'll have to call back tomorrow when the proper personnel are there. The only thing I was able to find out was that there is typically a 10 room minimum to get a group rate.

Anyway, I'll follow up and find out what I can. I'll add to this tomorrow.

    Ok, here’s the deal for Silver Legacy; If we want group rates, we need to book at least 10 rooms and fill out some “corporate” paperwork. If we do this, the room rates are;

    Sat 23 $109
    Sun 24 $69
    Mon 25 $69

There is some flexibility with whether or not each room is booked for all three nights, so if somebody wants to stay Saturday and Sunday, leave Monday, there is no problem.

There are rooms available, and I am assuming there will be a choice of two queen beds or one king.

I’ll be happy to deal with the paperwork end of things, but we do need to make a decision by this Thursday, July 17th, if we want to do it.

Either way, that’s where I am staying, so it doesn’t really matter to me.

Edit: From the list of "for sures", I don't think there are enough people for 10 rooms, if people wanted to share rooms to save some money. For what it is worth, Circus Circus, Silver Legacy and El Dorado are all internally connected, so they are almost like one big Casino Mall.

I'd like to recommend a really awesome route for the possible Lake Tahoe ride on Sunday. I mapped it out on google maps so everyone can see the route.

Here goes, go south from Reno and take the Mt. Rose hwy 431 to Incline village. From there go south on hwy 28 to South Lake Tahoe. South Lake Tahoe has great restaurants for lunch. Then take the Kingsbury Grade, hwy 207, to Genoa. From there go hwy 395 to Carson then take hwy 50 east to Virginia city. VC is a nice place for a rest, something to drink, maybe a snack. Then continue North out of VC back to Reno.

The entire route is about 130 miles. I've ridden this loop many times. There are some really nice, technical twisties, nice high speed sweepers, and plenty of historic sites to visit. It's easy to make a day of it.

Here's the google maps link with the route information:

from:reno, nv to:incline village, nv to:stateline, nv to:Genoa, nv to:Carson City, nv to:Virginia City, nv to:Reno, nv - Google Maps

Great job Lgn001! :thumb: Sign me up for a Single King please! Thanks for cleaning up the online reservation snafu as well.

justin_jag, that's a great route you have planned. I'll vote for that as well. Come on people, we're only 4 1/2 weeks away! That will be here before you know it. Sound off people!

Oops! I guess I did not explain well enough...

The only way we will get those rates is if we have enough people to reserve at least ten rooms. If there are ten people who will commit to getting a room (SS and Speed make 2...), then I need to call the Silver Legacy and set up a "Corporate Account" and reserve as many rooms as we will be getting. Once I do that, then the rooms will be reserved and I will complete the necessary paperwork.

But we have to have at least 10 members commit to a room before I call and commit myself to paying for the darn things. Once the account is established, then I think each member can call and arrange for personal payment. I'll find out all the relevant details if 10 people commit.

What you can do in the meantime is call and make individual reservations if you want to guaranty a room there. You will have to pay the normal price, which is quite a bit more, but you can always cancel the reservation.

Again, just to be clear, I need to have input by this Thursday July 17th to meet Silver Legacy's time constraints. So all I need is for those interested to reply pretty much like SS and Speed did, as in "Yes, I will do this" and what bed type.

So in a nutshell, we need at least 8 more members to commit to a room by Thursday. Once that happens, I'll make the phone call and do what is necessary to hold the rooms. I'll post whatever instructions or follow-up that each member needs to do to satisfy Silver Legacy's requirements. I'll also have to let you know what the "Corporation" name is going to be, as I do not want to assume that calling it "VFR World West" is an appropriate thing to do...

In fact, here's an idea. For all of you that want a room, how about a suggested corporation name?

If this still isn't clear, I apologize. I speak much better than I type. At least I THINK I do...

Hey LGN...thanks a lot for your research.

What is the difference in price from a regular rate, and coporate rate?

See, that sounds like a good deal, but I am scared for whomever reserves the rooms, because I have a feelin' that more people are gonna flake the closer we get. Just reserving single rooms might be the best and safest way.

UPDATE: It is difficult to coordinate the logistics of reserving a "group" rate for a hotel in Reno, so it looks like each will have to reserve a room alone or buddy up with someone to share the room. Looks like the some good options are (see below, these three all kinda connected I have been told, so if we stay in these, we will all be close together, however, I would MUCH rather just choose one.). LGN, since I have never been to Reno, and you seem to know it well, whatever you think will work is cool with me. The group reservation thingy is risky is all because of possible cancellations.

Yeah, it is a bit risky, as I will be the one holding the bag if anybody backs out. Like a darn fool, though, I am trusting that the average VFR owner has more integrity and honor than most humans.

So again, if there are ten people by Thursday, I am willing to the corporate thing.

By the way, the difference in price is about $11 dollars a night for Sunday and Monday (it wasn't as much difference as I thought), not sure about Saturday. Their website still shows "CLSD" (Closed for Arrivals) for the 23rd, so I don't know the normal rate. If you call them, they are open for arrivals and do have rooms available. Better life through electronics...

Personally, I like the motorcycle parking at the Legacy, as it is covered and right outside of the lobby, and the rooms are good. I personally do not care for the rooms or parking at the El Dorado, but I have only stayed there one time. I have not stayed at Circus Circus, so I haven't a clue as to the rooms or the parking.

Circus x2 rooms are a little older but clean. The parking is across the street by way of a covered bridge on the 3rd floor of the garage. They have the best price i can find at this time online. If you have better luck by calling other casinos by all means do so people. I think derstuka is right and we should not burden Lgn001 with having to "hold the bag" with the room reservations. I'm sure the people on this site are good for their word but that's a lot to ask of a single person.

If the group rate at the Silver Legacy works out I'll stay on it but for now I'll reserve at the Circus x2 to guarantee a room. I will cancel it if we get 8 more on the group rate by the 17th of July.
