As I suspected from the spy pics, I'm just not feeling the immediate love for the styling as I did (still do) with the 6th gen. Specifically the tank looks strange and the front looks like it was punched in the nose. I do like almost everything else about it.... I really like the touring options too.

The question is, does one get a bike that they're just not quite attracted too because of what's underneath? I like peaking at my bike in the garage when the snows on the ground, I wouldn't be happy looking at this. The sliver and white look better because the colors or lack of hide the styling cues somewhat.

Being that I have always favored the touring side of sport/touring I think right now if I wanted to upgrade my power and size I would go with the new 2010 concours 14. :frown:

I agree on the looks, while not something I run away from crying (like so many others...), I sure am not 'moved' by it either.

    Candy,

I was wrong about this having VTEC, but about the "variable-cylinder-management" system I was right.

Take a look at the third paragraph in this article . . .

    2010 Honda VFR1200F Breaks Cover

The tour trunk, IMHO, sits way too high (like the current trunk crop today).

Years ago I had several 1978 Yamaha XS1100 bikes. One of them I turned

into a pretty nice touring machine. I added the very rare and hard to find

factory tour trunk that came down around the luggage rack so that it didn't

    have such a high center-of-gravity.

Sorry guys, but most of the tour trunks I see on the VFRs look ugly.

At this point, I can't afford either, so I have time to wait it out and see what kind of reputation this bike builds in the next couple of years. For now, I'm perfectly happy with my bike.

I looked at the other bikes out there and that includes the BMW 1300S. This bike in a way just grabbed me and its not as good looking as the VFR G6 (best looking bike ever). So I went down to my Honda dealer and paid my deposit for a VFR1200. When I got there I was not the first to do it. Now I have to wait until Feb from what the sales guy was saying.

    Well?

The wife and I looked over some side by side shots of the C14 with pillion vs. the VFR1200F. It looks like the pillion seating position is almost identical, at lease regarding leg angle and peg height.

Now, the seat on the Connie LOOKS much more comfy, but I'm not sure if it will feel that way, just by looking at it.

So, she has agreed to wait and sit on them both next spring and we'll make our decision then, so there's still hope I'll end up with another Honda V4 instead of a Kawi.

I'll be waiting on the ride reports...

Some guys have all the luck. With all those terribley difficult choices to make and so many bikes to choose from, some dudes can just ask their SO's.

This post is not gender specific.

    I know, I got it rough don't I?

Better yet, she said after I get the 2up machine, I can start working on my track bike or kit car, or whatever. As long as I get "her" bike first.

    Beat you to it!

A ride report in february in Calgary might be tough... I could be bringing her home on a trailer.

At the very least I will strip it down to its bones as soon as I get it in my garage and take lots of naked pictures. :)

Haven't tried out the new VFR (that goes without saying), but that Connie is sweet. I say hold off until you can test ride the new VFR, then make your decision. Though I haven't ridden it, the VFR has too much too much tech for me. Too much stuff that can break/malfunction/cost a lot to repair. For that reason alone, I'd go with the Connie. Plus, the few years the Connie's been around have given Kawi the chance to work out the bugs, an argument Honda can't make for the new VFR.

I have ridden the connie, not the vfr1200, but if they compete at all its not a bike that I want at all any more! The connie is a tank (like my fjr13 was), compared to my vfr. Gawd I hope they don't compete when i see a real one as i want a new bike! I have no doubt tho it will be a awesome bike in the fat st class for those that want that kind. They will probably sell more than they ever did...:)

I had the fjr13, and i rode the connie a bit, both are tankers compared to the current vfr. But even with the vfr getting porkered up so much, I suspect it will still seem small in comparison. Just depends what you want! I think the zzr1400 is going to be a lot closer comparison. The ones i rode felt very close to my old vfr in ergo's, just way heavier, but still a lot smaller "feeling" then the connie. If you don't mind the weight and size, I think the connie will be quite the competition! Especially if you have to do 2 up.
