PIR is 2.25 miles, Willow (the 'big' original track, not the 'streets of Willow') is 2.5 miles. My guess is the lap times at the big Willow course are quicker/faster than PIR. Back when I was racing, the open class bikes made slightly more than 100hp, and weighed >500 lbs. I'm guessing a current generation literbike would probably touch 150 at the fastest points at Willow, and run laps in the mid-1:20's (with a very good rider aboard), where we were running 1:30's.

I sort of thought the subject was terminal velocity and not lap times. The numbers are contained in the various track databases and the layouts are on the track websites. The front straight at PIR which was SIR before new ownership and several mods including the "bus stop" is also a full on dragstrip. BTW, I was stationed at EAFB for five years, so yes, I have seen Willow more than a couple of times. Have you seen PIR? Track record for bikes is held by Wayne Rainey on a half litre two stroke when the track was SIR and before the entire back section of the course was repaved.

Somebody can look this up too. Last I heard at Laguna Seca or WTF ever it's being called now, (after some kind of toothpaste or feminine hygiene product?) The fast guys in the cars run 12-15 seconds/lap faster than the bikes taking the rubber on the road to a whole new level. Right up there with "the older I get the faster I was."

Yep, 6th gear is almost an over-drive, holding 5th till yah hit 90-100 mph and snicking it into 6th is the only way to fly! Glad you figured that one out urself ; )

That works for me. I look foward to the TV ads with some of the fast guys and some umbrella girls doing demos.

With the way everyone is offended by everyone else of late why there aren't any umbrella boys? A TV ad like that would kick ass on every one of the 2012 Superbowl ads and sell the hell out of both products.

Funny chit fer sure! Politically Incorrect would sell, too bad we are not in those creative type jobs, last time I saw one of their offices in action, there were a bunch of jeans wearing (holes in dah knees) skinny lads, kicking a hacky sack ball around. Sheeesh, You know staying in the same vein as advertising, I saw an ad for Cadillac possibly during the Supa-Bowl and one of the tyres was lifting off the tarmac. I can remember my cousin telling me that the ad that he did for the Golf VW was not allowed to be considered because of the rear wheel lifting during a session on the race track. Guess times change...

That ad may be a precursor to naming cars and trucks after dogs. Something like "Golden Retriever" would be in but "Chihuahua", not so in. They could tie in the lifting of a rear wheel near a fire hydrant to complete the tableau.

Not to worry. Most of the assholes I don't like are white guys who own Chihuahuas and ride Harleys.

I have had my 1998 on the speedo right at 152 but she just won't move anymore then that and the motor will not pull maximum RPM with stock gearing. Now in the summer I try and do it on the long 2 mile stretch every day when I am riding it but I now seem to ride my 2001 ZX12 and blast past that in forth and then beyond and that becomes scarey and then VFR seems so slow now but who should really be riding that fast as the VFR is fast enough and does it safely. From 0-100 is is as fast as most bikes and that is where it shines from 1st through 4th gear. The Erion race exhaust is one of the best sounds from a bike ever and is seems to keep me coming back to it but unfortunately the zx12 is more comfortable and has superior wind protection but is not great in a parking lot with the gearing and can't match the cornering of the VFR for sure. Be safe.

I've hit 130mph (indicated) and it seems planted. I would have gone faster, but I became concerned only holding the bar with one hand and cell phone(camera) with the other while trying to take a pic of that speed. Its got a lot more in it though as it kept pulling hard.

Took a very quick look once and once only. Managed 240kph on Phillip Island circiut and
250 on Eastern Creek (Phillip Island 1st corner a bit more OOOHH shit than The Creek)
My 5th gen rev limits at about 13000 rpm, got a bit excited first time out and forgot to change up!!
Have been told most standard bikes are gear limited to 260 kph so anyone saying they get above that are
fiddling with their ECU or their manhood !!!!
