Did it feel unsteady at top speed?

I just recently pushed it up to 125 again... got a lil wobbly, but had more motor in it... may get me a steering stabilizer and give it another go :D

love to know how were getting speeds of 160mph+. My r6 is 12bhp more, and about 40kg lighter and that tops out at 162mph. Pushed the vfr to its limits and toped out at 147mph. Think they might be a couple of speedos needing to be recalibrated. I toped a mates r1 out at 178mph, no way a vfr is anyway close to match an r1. Ok when playing in the country lanes ive managed to out ride a few riders with zx10s, r1s gixers etc but thats only becaus they bottle it in the corners.

You are absolutely correct. I posted on this thread a while back that the verified top speed of the 5th/6th gens were just below 150mph, according to several testers (magazine and websites). Since everyone agrees you can only get 10-20 more ponies outta the Interceptor with bolt-ons, one should only expect a few more mph, so maybe 155-160 MAX with mods; since everyone also agrees weight doesn't have much impact on over-all top speed, the comparison you make to your R6 is about right.

Everyone also agreed that the speedo is about 10% off in general, so 160-16=144, which is more realistic.

I use my zumo a lot for recording top speed,145! 5th gen, then my brain panics about badgers, cats and dogs jumping out in front of me!!
If i got pulled for speeding, could the police use my zumo gps memory as evidence against me if i contested?

Its a possibility, mcn wrote an article last year about the possibilities of trackers being turned against us. Not only could you use trackers to trace stolen bikes, but they could use the data to work out your traveling distance ant the time it has taken to calculate your speed. Then one day in the post, hey presto a summons. Dont think this will ever happen but technology is being used to screw us. Saying that, there is a story about a driver who got off with a speeding offence last year becaus they were no clearly posted speed signs on a 50 stretch of road, and the sat nav was telling him it was a 70 limmit. After he proved this his conviction was quashed and the sat nav was updated. So maybe its not all doom and gloom, though the days of hitting the country lanes and going nuts are numberd lol.:frown:

i wouldn't be surprised if some of these guys that are reporting 160+ had sprocket kits on their bikes, which would throw the speedo's way off.

I had my stock '02 up to about 160. I was in a tunnel in Pittsburgh, and laying down on the tank. Only reason I started slowing down was the bright red traffic light at the end of the tunnel. I'm sure the speedo wasn't 100% accurate, but I've flown past those radar signs on the side of the road and had accurate readings...not sure how accurate those signs are, though. I'd be willing to bet my 5th gen is even quicker, certainly accelerates and handles better.

As for the r6 having more horsepower, it also lacks a good 200cc's or so. It might be a quicker accelerating bike while still not reaching as high a speed.

I've gotten my highly modified Viffer up to 1170.42 Miles/hour (mph), VERIFIED! Top that!

(OK, so that includes the rotational speed of the earth, which is 1040.42 Miles/hour (mph) at the equator, this was not corrected for latitude, but still, it's actual speed!)

So if i moved to the equator, i would be going faster than i would in the northen tropics lol. Price of parts these days, would probably be cheaper as well lol
