I just drag raced my dads hemi magnum and he didnt pass me till 130, and he only crawled away so im assuming i was traveling around 125 thats fast enough for a 84 vf700 ...felt real good except for the bad chain. bad rear shock ,, bad forks, out of balance rear tire. and the horific noise coming from the front cams.. yea i know i got some work to do.. Im heading to sport wheeles today..

I have now pedaled her good and hard, and have seen an indicated 149 mph. She was struggling past about 145, though, and the numbers were counting pretty slowly. I probably could have managed something just past 150 with enough road, but I was running out of safe room to explore. Considering this is similar to what others have posted, I'm thinking the low 150s are about what we can expect from a stock 6th gen.

are you sure?? i didn't think any bikes had governors except busa and zx14,12 goverment wants american bikes under 190.....becuase 191 would be dangerous..did you have a head wind? full tuck sometimes one direction is slower ....Ive topped out bikes alot and sometimes they just will not pull redline, temperature wind road etc full tank....but i am surprised today i got mine to 148 at almost 10k rpm and was still pulling but ran outta safe room.............:thumbsup: 1 day i will get the room to do it...

My fastest was last summer, pulled out to pass a line of grain trucks and cars. Got around them pretty quick and looked down to see the speedo going past 130. I was just outside the county seat so I let go of the throttle and slowed down quick but there weren't any vehicles close behind anymore! Glad nothing jumped out in front of me. I have no idea how much was left.

After having a serious case of BDS (bike deprivation syndrome) I just had to get out and blow the cobwebs away. I go south as usual as there is less traffic, find a quiet stretch and just open up, That VFR can hit 260 on the clock but knowing the jap bikes it was probably closer to 240 real.

Anyway, as I got back I felt really strange, it was after a little thinking, Guilt, not a feeling I am used to.

To assuage my guilt I called Metro traffic cops

    Hello is that Metro

yes what can we do for you

well I was speeding today and I feel guilty so I thought I would call you,

Sir, you have made my day, to know that there are conscientious citizens out there, what exactly happened

Well I was out on my bike and the clock showed me 260kmh

WOW, that was a helluva speed

Yeah was kinda cool, but I think the alcohol made me brave

All I can say is that THINK BIKE must be having an effect on you and I respect you for calling us and owning up to your indiscretion

Thanks, this is not an unpleasant experience, but then again I had a lot of alcohol

Right you are Sir, what did you say your name was

I said I was feeling guilty, not ****ing stupid MR Plod, and put the phone down.

    Was I wrong???????

    I feel much better.

I got my stock 05 up to 142 yesterday, then I started to notice a slow but rythmic steering wobble and decided to back it off.

4th gen vfr 750. Never managed to get it over 147mph. Ok my r6 is a little faster but the vfr didnt realy feel as if it was going fast, so steady and comfatable. Could probably cruise all day at a steady 125-30.

Dyno "top speeds" are meaningless - no wind resistance. The dyno will only tell you what the gearing's top speed will be in a vacuum.

I got my Civic up to 145 on a dyno once - no way it would ever go that fast...

How did you manage that on the VFR?! Is it stock?

I have topped mine at 149. I still had plenty of road room. It just wouldn't go any faster. After 145 the speedo numbers jumped around a bit. It seemed it would hit 147 and then back down again, like a governor would. One of the times it hit the upper end it indicated 149. That was quite fast enough for me. What was really scary was that when I backed down to 100 it felt like I was crawling. I kept looking at my gauges thinking they had to be wrong. I could've swore I was doing the speed limit.

i think a lot of it has to do with how tightly you can tuck into the bike. i think a fairly large person sitting relatively upright isnt going to make it too far and someone more jockey size in an extreme tuck( head pressed against the tank, hands feet and elbows all the way in) is going to get much further.

165mph. One time only. To much for me. Was scred for my life. I do have top gear, but anyway. My normal speed 80-130.
    Best regard,
