I'm running de-linked brakes w/ stainless steel brake lines on my '99 Honda VFR 800 and love it.

If I had to do it over again - I would do it without hesitation.

    Cheers, E-Ticket

Omg-cant believe what some folks go thru to remove this-all you do is clamp off one of the hoses going to the rear caliper- you lose 2 pistons up front but same braking pressure is applied through other pistons. Front and rear brakes now work independently and just as powerfully as b4! Seen it done on blackbirds and vfrs for trackdays!!! Its a professionals trick over here, wouldn't put dangerous advice out there!!

Doesn't look safe and professional i'll give you that but functions perfect for the sake of track days etc- no point wasting hundreds on the mod! As discussed elsewhere linked nrakes are great for the road so leave as is!

I don't see why it is anyones business to tell someone they are stupid for wishing to perform a mod on a bike like the one being discussed. Not everyone who buys a vfr wants to use it for a touring bike. I'm not saying im the most skilled rider in the world, but my riding style mandates that my brakes not be linked. I tried to like it, but i just don't. I don't see how just bypassing the linked portion of the stock brakes and running lines from the master cylinder would create an issue on the factory brake calipers.

I de-linked my brakes a long time ago ... and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I now have stainless steel brake lines, no bleeding hassles, and much, much stronger brakes. For me, the biggie is getting full braking power from my six-piston, front calipers ... and independent brake capability on the rear brake. Dropping 6 lbs in steel lines and valves was just a bonus.

    Cheers! E-Ticket
