    Jay,

By any chance did you contact any of your gear manufacturers to tell them how their gear performed and see if they might give you a coupon in exchange for your gear to research how it held up?

Okay feeling a wee bit better went back at the scene, thought I'd show you the road condition I got a taste off.. Nice huh?? NOT!!! I'm Pissed, US Congress, here I come. Notice how they covered a nice smooth road.. that is the actual road I tumble on, photos are taken at the mid point, we also stepped it off again, seems I traveled right around 225' The car in the first photo is the impact area, in the upper right of the next photo you can just pick out the pole the bike was wrapped against

I guess they do that for traction during the wet weather? Have you had your free consolation with an injury lawyer yet?

I get the feeling that protective gear of any kind wouldn't hold up for long, except perhaps an old suit of armor. Hmmm....

they use it because it is a cheap way to "fix" the roads... I hate the shit don;t even like to drive the truck over it...the little freakin rocks fling up and get cought in the wheel wells and on the body panels...and the shit doesn't want to comme off

Iron Man's armor would take a beating on that crap. I'm amazed at the mentality of the road dept people who think using that stuff is acceptable...

That's what our Super Highways are made out of here in Canada. What's wrong with it? Are there better surfaces now available?

Yes, concrete, normal slurried asphalt! :)
    But for the cost no!
I see the downside to this stuff, my street was paved with it when I lived in nother califonia. I hated it then ill hate it now. But its half the cost of ashalt and its a lot better then the road in.the mojave. Where It seems they use whatever is on the side of the when they pave, rock, gravel, cinder, used asphalt......

    Ya know........
long ago in a galaxy far far away (woodinville) I was taking an exit ramp / right turn at about 10 - 15 MPH, and i juuuuuusst touched the fog line w/ my front tire...

    BANG DOWN!!!!!! Low Side.

slicker than ice... it had just been repainted & was still wet. no warning signs & the paint truck had gone under an overpass & was not visible.

Well, this long sad story ends with the state offering to compensate me for my damaged bike, my pain & suffering (not a lot of that) and my lawyer.....without whom I would have received nothing.

We just rode on some new roads near Reg's place - they were smooth. A fall there would not have caused as much damage as the cheese grater look of your landing.

    JAT

    Get well soon.....

Not yet.. Being I'm not sure just the course to take, guess it wouldn't hurt to much to call one of those advertised on TV. the one leagal rep I talked with here (a friend too) all though this is out of his field of expertise says get your wallet out first, most won't take a case without some sort of retainer, sad they want to see the color of your money first, even in a good cause.
