So all the talk about the choppers and bobbers got me thinking about the idea I had before of making a VFR powered bobber style motorcycle. I'm thinking something kind of along the lines but I'm not sold on the front end...

I like the general look of this an I wonder about stuffing the 800cc V4 in there somehow. The frame mounts are the big problem I would think then you also have to decide where to stick the radiators. Looking at some VROD customs would probably give some ideas for that. I more envision a front end like a confederate hellcat or something but it's hard to put it all together in my head. I wonder if anyone has done it yet? Can you imagine the sound of a VFR engine running dual straight pipes? MY neighbors would probably try to shoot me.

that's pretty cool. I'd probably never do it, but in my head it seems like a cool idea...

The v-fours we all know and love are not really very attractive motors. Powerful, smooth, reliable, yes. Would it look good in a bobber/custom? No. Way too much extranious stuff to make a clean chopper. IMHO.

    Wouldn't a V65 Magna make for a good platform

That kind of looks like a Shadow to me, but it's so far from stock at this point it's hard to tell.

The pictured bobber is from a v45. The vfr cruiser is basically the magna. The magna still has a traditional tube-steel, sled frame. The motor sits in the frame and doesn't hang. I'd like to see a backbone frame where the motor hangs and appears to be suspended. That said, I'm no fabricator (mechanic) and don't know the feasibility of that arrangement.

    Magna

Thats a Magna 500. I met the builder in salem ohio a couple years ago at a bike nite. I also say a shadow 600 he built and it was fantastic. made me go and work up my 82 magna 750 to a more classy setup. that lasted till I streetfightered the thing. if it's electrical did'nt fry in a rain storm I'd still be riding it. Ended up on my Yam FZ1 and the wife had to dump her 06 shadow 600 in favor her 92 VFR to keep up.
