I've been debating this exact subject for a few weeks now. Here is the likely build:

Dunlop Roadsmart 150/60/17 - Jamie says he can fit a 160, but I'm not going to test it =P
    Vortex 232 44T Rear Sprocket
D.I.D. VM Gold X'ring Sealed Chain - 110 link variety

Thank you for the post and the links.

Yes, I read the same specification that a 160 may or may not fit (depending on the manufacturer and the actual width of the tire) but a 150 is fine. I'm questioning this now though after seeing Slowbird's photos (posted under the ‘rear wheel impossible’ thread).

Slow’s 150 width tire is very close to the swingarm even with the chain adjusters backed all the way out.

I saw the thread and pics...there is some piece of that equation that is still missing...I dont know what it is, but I am convinced there is some fundamental missing element to his F2 experience.

I hear ya buddy. I was pressing new bearings into my F2 last night and was having trouble getting them to fully seat...seems like the internal spacer is a hair too long and it made me wonder if that was part of your original problem with the swingarm width. Does your wheel have the dust covers installed over the bearings?

Agreed. Other than one or two very issues nobody has experienced any issues what so ever with doing with the F2 wheels on the 500. It's too bad for Slowbird because those wheels make such a big improvement that I would never dream of going back to stock on my bikes.

Any pictures regarding my wheel and setup refer to my post. I'll post pics there so as not to thread jack.

    Looking good so far!

Here's a couple crappy pics of what the GSM guards look like when installed. Maybe find another lower spoiler to cut up? I know there's plenty on eBay. If I doing a another frame-up, I'd weld on some tabs with studs for the lower mounts of the guards, instead of the u-bolts. But they really don't look too bad mounted up.

Sweet. What kind fo foot pegs are you running there?

Additional things to consider if anyone finds a set of guards out there...

They are designed for the 84/85 and there is some interference with the hard coolant down pipe on my 86. Nothing that cant be over come with a little effort, but they are obviously not built for an 86. Next is that the threaded engine bolt that came with them is too short by about 1.5". Again, simple to overcome...but annoying. Last, I just had the frame powder coated and the guards dont match =P

I do have a couple extra sets of plastics so no big deal to make a cut out for the u-bolts.

I have the blue front fairing, Ill take a picture of it, you may need to switch the tinted wind sheild with the other. I do have a spare wind sheild but Its no so nice. Ill send a pic today. I also have the side panels to match the blue scheme as well.
