Unlikely, those spacers have a really thick sidewall. You could probably balance the entire bike on one and without any damage.

I guess if it was me I would try to hit the out races with the bearing driver one more time just to make sure they are fully seated in the wheel. It sounds like the center spacer tube is correct, but if the bearings are not all of the way in just by a little bit it could cause some stiffness in how freely they roll.

The bike is in a storage area and I really only get to work on it during the weekends.

    I'll check them then.

How did this work out? Were the wheel bearings properly seated?

Oops! Sorry for the lack of updates....been too busy riding :-D

They seemed fine to me. Re-Torqued the wheel and it was still tight. I checked the Shop Manual and it says to torque that Axle nut to 50-75ft=lbs...so at 55 I left it at. Seems ok.

I am going to assume that the problem is that since my kit was too tight to being with and I had to grind down the Caliper mounting tab to make everything fit....I didn't grind off enough to make everything fit perfect once it's all torqued down.

It isn't that it is 'hard' per se. More that if you are starting from scratch there are a lot of factors to think about. A kit would definitely be the way to go if you don't have access to milling equipment - it will greatly simplify the upgrade. Also, with the 17" wheel conversion it is important to budget in the purchase a new (taller) rear mono-shock conversion - this will get you back to the bike's stock geometry.

Well I didn't start from scratch and it was difficult for me. Though I think there is something different about my bike. Don't know what exactly.

So I am unsure whether to write all this in this thread or start a new one so I'll just start here.

I rode the bike all weekend. Put on 300+Kms. Very Nice.

The bike rides well and handles beautifully.

I also got amazing range. Over 200kms (125Miles) before having to switch to reserve.

    A few issues though:

The rear brake doesn't work so well. With the stock wheel and rotor the Brake Pad touches the entire face of the rotor and last season I could lock up the rear wheel on occasion.
With the F2 Rear wheel about 90% of the brake pad is touching the rotor while the rest is too high. The rear brake slows the bike down but not as well as it did before.

Also.....with the new Gearing 16/41 the Chain seems to be rubbing the Rubber Chain gaurd on the Swingarm. When the chain is at a good tension it makes contact. I'd hate to have to ride with a tight chain just to clear that chain guard.

Last.....That tire is REALLY close to the swing arm. It's a 150 tire (I went with 150 to be safe)

Happy to hear that your bike is back on the road. When you have a chance would you mind taking a few detail photos of the areas that are still of issue?

So after adjusting the chain as tight as it can go within spec (5/8") the chain moved a bit away from the chain guard but it still rubs nearer the Front Sprocket.

Here's the Rear brake. I forgot to get an image of the back of the rotor showing the unused parts of the disc:

Here is a shot of how far back the axle/wheel is adjusted to get the chain to fit. (It is a 108):

....and how close the rear tire is to the swing arm:

I measured the width of the tire at it's widest part and it's 155mm (It's a 150 tire) No way a 160 can fit in this swingarm.

.....the bike buzzes like crazy to when I'm riding...gotta figure out why :??

Thank you for posting the photos. These are very informative and clearly show the issues you have mentioned. Perhaps another VF500F owner, with an F2 wheel conversion kit, could post side by side photos for comparison..?
