Bike put away under cover for the winter:
    IMG_20211204_185713_520.jpg

This little sod was tough to get out, ended up using an impact driver to remove. Funny story, my dad said the tacho cable used to come out sometimes and he used to push it back in, looks like whoever did his disc and pads last, put the screw in before inserting the cable:
    IMG_20220301_205058_078.jpg

Back to the engine again, all torqued up:
    IMG_20220515_131825_961.jpg

And finally, 13 months to the day from when I removed it, the engine is back in the frame:
    IMG_20220515_152139_020.jpg

Moved on to the radiator and fan assembly:
    IMG_20220516_193339_246.jpg

    IMG_20220518_174207_941.jpg

    And back on the bike:
    IMG_20220518_175106_663.jpg

    Pegs and gear pedal installed:
    IMG_20220518_175946_003.jpg

All that work, and she fires on all four with good compression on all four cylinders! Although the carbs now need a quick clean, due to the time they were off the bike and not being run  bogs down when taking the choke off or revving, so most likely the pilot jets.

On to the collector box that my dad purchased about 17 years ago, turns out he was sent one possibly for a VF500:

    IMG_20220521_175453_883.jpg

    Old box length:
    IMG_20221008_153358_501.jpg

    New box length:
    IMG_20221008_153344_555.jpg

The only difference I can see is the length of the tubing to connect to the two rear pipes, bit late to return it do you think? :D

And a bit of nostalgia, me on the bike at age two or three:
    Me on bike.jpg

    And now:
    IMG_20221009_154654_529.jpg

Had to be done :D notice the small patch of rust on the bottom lip of the fuel tank in both pictures.

I am glad I took the project on, even if I didn't fulfil my target of getting the bike back on the road, I think I have saved it from ending up as scrap and rotting away in my dads shed. I am happy that it has gone to someone who has time and enthusiasm for a project like this, and truth being told, will do it more justice.

Thanks to everyone for their help and support with the bike, it is hugely appreciated.

Well done Shaun! It looks like you have set your dads bike on the path that will give someone years of enjoyment.

Family first is allways a good choice. You will not regret having spent more time with your children and less time on other things.
