I prefer to sell bikes to people I don't know. I don't wanna be a baby sitter and I don't want any shit for something that had absolutely nothing to do with what I did to the bike while I owned it. If you are buying from me, then it is likely already 30 years old. Old stuff breaks and starts to leak eventually.

Basically, you want new… go buy new.
That’s what I say to my prospective buyers when they start the crying about this or that …

Ok, got a response. While it is nonsensical (to me), it was polite. Here's the exchange:

Hello. Regarding the VF1000R. If I were to travel to look at this bike, can you please explain what "proof of recent withdrawal" is about? I either have cash for you or I don't. Thank you for your time.

    -------------------------

Hello. I stated that because of a recent experience where I sold a bike and got a wad of brand new looking bills in a paper bag. It tuned out fine, but it gave me pause. I ask it for peace of mind when receiving a larger amount of cash...seeing that it was withdrawn from a bank.

    -------------------------

I recently purchased a bike with $4000 cash. It was from my mad money stash hidden in my shop. My shop did not provide me with a withdrawal slip. If you are not comfortable with "undocumented" cash, you might have some issues finding the right cash buyer. It's the whole point in dealing in cash.

Again, thank you for the response and your time. Good luck with sale.

    -------------------------

Understood. I have one of those stashes too.

So he has stashes of cash that don't have withdrawal receipts, yet expects buyers to produce one so he feels warm and fuzzy.

Look at the bills. Feel the bills. Hold them up to the light. Profile the buyer (yes, we all do it). If the bills are so new and crisp, then they have the "ribbons" in them too.

Again, if you don't feel comfortable inspecting cash in front of a buyer, then you are not comfortable doing cash deals with strangers. Either stay in the past or move to the digital future. Hard to have it both ways and not look dumb.

I am totally a cash guy. I bought my Tuono with cash and the guy was surprised I brought cash. I was like, WTF did you expect? You mentioned in your add you don't take personal checks and I don't know if I am buying it so no Cashiers check, so....WTF.
He accepted the money of course, but some people..
I agree with Capt. Stay classy, go cashy or move into the future and be concerned about digital fraud. IDK.
Either way I am out of money again, so it will be a slow finish to my 400. :(

    A Cashiers Check, these days?! Not a fucking chance. I think I'd rather get possible counterfeit cash. If it was that good at least I'd have a chance to launder it and not end up with zero WHEN the bank decides the check's fake and yanks my funds. {Scenario presented for drama. The author would never knowingly launder counterfeit cash.}

Tell you what... I will hold the vehicle until we can meet at your bank and have that check written or you produce the cash in the branch. Anything I sell, I know the next person will still be interested 3 days from now if this transaction doesn't happen.

    Cash talks, bullshit walks.

There are all kinds of people. Sales rarely turn out like I think that they will. Plenty of people who show up with no money, but also others who surprise. A guy bought a guitar fromme last year. He was going across country on a scooter and wanted to write and play and put it all on YouTube. He was totally nutty in person and before we met...but he showed, had cash, and was comical. Just no way to tell in today's society. We stopped sweeping outliers in or out years ago.

Listing has been updated. Oh, and the bike hasn't sold yet... shocking.

Seems like there's a couple new details (not good ones).

And amazingly, he no longer requires proof that cash is fresh cash.
