Too bad you didn't know it was a cop behind you; I would've stayed put indefinately just to piss him off.

kick stand mostly, but @ diffacult ones in SoCal that I had to use (lights) to get home, I super glued between my lugs on the heel of my boots a couple of p/u magnets I had extras off (the ones used on speed O's p/u's on disc brakes), & they seemed to work great:smile:

I once was @ a light (B-4 the magnet idea) where I was just past a Radar hidding LEO, so I put down my stand, because the turn signal wouldn't change.
I then layed on the bike & kicked my legs up on the bars.
After about 7 mins, the LEO popped out & behind me & lit up his lights.

I didn't move, & he got on his PA & said, would you please proceed through the light to the curb. I did under his instructions.
pulled over he asked me if I've been drinking, I said no, just tired of this POS light not changing for smaller vehicles like my bike.
He said 99% of cops when there is light or no traffic will let you wait 3 lights, & then go safely for you to make a safe turn.

I said oh, your not that .01% are you ?
He proceeded to say get the "F" out of here

The easiest way to trip those kind of lights is to hit the starter button when rolling over the loops. Works every time for me. There is no danger of damage because the starter will just spin when the engine is on and not engage. Try it next time, works like a charm:tea:

I just barely beat you to the punch, but I'd rather have the Can-Am  .

In Tucson, many lights are triggered by optical methods (at least I think they are this way) and there are several that don't seem to "see" MC's. I waited five light cycles once at a light along the frontage road of I-10 and it never triggered. Since it is a BLIND intersection due to the freeway overpass/underpass with lots of traffic there except for my (one-way) direction I didn't feel safe running it. I had to back up 50 feet to turn right and change my route (which was dangerous and difficult to merge). Sucks! I regularly have the same issue on my bicycles at many more lights. I usually squirm over to the pedestrian cross-walk button to trigger things that way. Again..it SUCKS living in a car-centric society!

    VFR,

Let me know how your experiments work out. I probably will be out and about trolling around tonight on the viffer (gf is still out of town) killing time. Looks like the rain in the forecast for Wednesday has disappeared for now. Woo hoo!

I'd have to agree. I don't know exacly what the Can-Am is supposed to be...is it a bike? Is it a car? Somewhere in between?

Since a motorcycle is a lawfully allowed vehicle on public roadways, all traffic controls should recognize it. If a traffic control does not, then the traffic control is broken.

If a traffic control is broken, then you are allowed to proceed when it is safe.

If you get pulled over, be sure to tell the officer that the light is "broken" or "defective" - just like a traffic light on a timer that won't turn green... it's broken.

Note: the sensitivity of the inductive loops can be tuned. However you have to go through the proper channels to get it done.

in VA (the MSF Class) they say to give the bike a couple rev's to make the magnetic field around the engine (and bike) change

not sure if it makes a difference or not.
