It does clutch-less shifting now now I can do it no problem but, never been a fan. Second the 18 tooth will space the gears out and give me less power that is the desired effect. When I do that it will not clutch-less shift The gear gap will be to wide. I know it will. I did it on my ninja 500 and it would shift but with much protest when i spaced the gears in a similar set up. The result will be the same here. Though it should make the gap at the same speed less of an RPM jump the bike never seemed to like it.

Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator

Chaining sprockets most defiantly changes the ratio.(It effects over all ratio not internal. )

Also noted less contacts on the front make for less wear on the chain.

Why does everybody think clutch-less shifting is the greatest thing like sliced bread.

No Factory set up what they believe is the best combination for most conditions. When I have to shift in the middle of a turn its the wrong gearing for me. Even the Super bikes bring different chains and sprocket combos for different tracks.

Last clutch is way cheaper to replace than trans. If clutch-less shift under acceleration its no problem but from first to second if your just trying to hold the same speed it doesn't want to and often that's where I'm shifting want to hold the same speed not accelerate.

Funny I switch off between an 04 EX 500 and the 91 VFR with no issues what so ever. Both bikes shift flawlessly. When I raced an EX I had different sprockets for the different tracks. For the street, I have left the stock gearing on all my street bikes. I have a nice gold 520 chain waiting for the Kawasaki with some steel sprockets.

When I raced, I would use the clutch for 1st to 2nd gear changes and then it was clutchless. Street riding I use the clutch all the time. I catch nuetral as I come up on stops and just coast to a stop. Been riding this way forever/Clutch was replaced on the VFR after 65,000 miles. Not much of a difference really except over 110 mph  could feel it kinda pull a little better. Replaced/friction plates, metals and springs. All stock Honda replacement parts.

Like i said the 5/6 thing has only happened once and it was probably because of something I did. The false neutrals have been when I'm coming down the patter back to 1 I will get green neutral at light ease clutch and it grabs a gear. It seems to be second gear because the bike doesn't lurch forward as if it was first. Click it again it triggers green and start the bike back up as most of the time it stalls the bike if it does happen.

The crushing the bearings bit is pertaining to running the bike in 6th at 36. I tried the factory shift points the first time riding it out of the lot and i went WTF there is no way I would ever shift at those points.

They put those there in the manual because thats what they run the emissions test for the government at. Same reason the VTEC setup on the 6th gens actually switches the motor from 2 valves per cylinder to 4. Its all for noise and emissions. They could run all the emissions tests without cracking vtec...

The self proclaimed Doctor is in! If ur gettin a green light when you go down thru the gears ur hitting a TRUE neutral. No big deal. At that point, if my arse was on your bike, I would coast to the stop. When I needed to initiate FIRST, I would click down and be in first and then take off. You just got a lazy left foot or maybe you got bad shoes on for riding a motorcycle.

Far as 5 to 6 goes, The doctor recomends hauling arse and shifting into that 6th gear at double the national speed limit. Something like 90 MPH!!! Your problems will be a thing of the past, I guarantee it!!! The manual was written to protect the arses of factory.

Its like this, If you bought a new chain saw. How you gona break that sucker in? You gona cut twigs with it? NOPE...Chances are a big arse ficus tree just fell and your gona be cutting your arse off for the next day! Rev your chit freely and dont lug the engine. NUFSED...saw that as a custom license plate. Cheers

I haven't seen 6th gear on my bike in 2 years. Well, maybe once just to make sure it was still there. Screw the highways. That's for cars.
