I miss the 135mm grips on my FJ on every bike I own. Some are super short, like the CB-1. If anyone knows a universal long throttle tube I can put on everything I own...I'm in. :)

Im putting this down to a "personal thing" from a past owner.

the bars are both the same length but the left one has 2" more grip. maybe he had a weak left arm and needed more leverage ...IDK.

anyway, that will be made "normal" when I start this project.

New thought on the extended grip after seeing your vid... it's probably not this, but possibly related. They may have had to a clutch lever guard in a pinch, and needed something for it to mount to. Most orgs just require a brake lever guard (if any), but as soon as I saw this, that was my first thought.

You had asked about Magura master cylinder(s) in the video as well. I couldn't tell you if they're stock, but I know they're pretty damn trick. I know a bunch of people that run them at the track and l lIaughed at the price when considering one for the SV. Then I stopped looking when I realized I couldn't change my master due to class rules.

    Thanks Matt

turns out the magura master is OEM...I looked at my other RC8 (dummy that I am forgot to look at that Duuuu).

I also believe that the dark fluid in the clutch master reservoir is mineral oil.

As far as the long lever goes...IDK, there was no brake lever protector , hard to know if a clutch lever protector would have been on there, but who knows. its just and extra 2" of rubber grip added and secured with safety wire and electrical tape.

What is the little black housing with the screw between the grip and clutch perch?

Its like he (or she) wanted the grip next to that (for easy access?) but it made the hand position on the clutch lever suck so they then extended the grip to get their hand in the right spot again.

Is the housing pinned on the bar?

If you run Woodcraft bars, I believe you can get two different lengths of aluminum bar. I ran longer on my stock racer (accommodate stock switchgear) and shorter on my superbike SVs.

Generally, the bars on true clip-ons slide left to right to accommodate a lot of options.

Yep--the ones I have are standard length, and I run them alll the way out (longest). The make some that are either 1-2" longer as well. There are little bar-end plugs that I use to clamp the lever guards to. You could run these bars shorter if you chose by sliding them into the 2-piece holder.

yes the housing is pinned, the OEM one is in the same spot right next to the inside of the grip so you can just click the button with your thumb to trigger the lap time.whether or not the lap timer is still pinned on this bike is a good question.

I think I figured out the extended grip thing (?).

bars are the same length, but the left bar is now absent the left switch gear and the lap timer (that black housing between the grip and the clutch clamp) had to be moved as a result. seems that lap timer is kinda pinched between the bar grip and the clutch to keep it in place.

so basically the grip got slid up the bar to squeeze agains the lap timer housing and then they stuck a bit of extra grip on the end. that bit of extra grip is the same size as the missing switch gear.

seems like a janky way to do it, I'll just re drill the bar and locate that lap timer properly, and move the clutch down a bit.
