I only get into the rum very occassionally. Like I did after shovelling snow for a few hours last week. Hell it is snowing now so the rum might end up on the counter yet again today.

I hope some legislator on your side or my side of the border does not see this exchange. This could lead to an infraction called SUI. (shoveling under the influence)

Next trip down stop in at Skagit HD and see if they have one of those heated leaf blowers that the harleydoods use to dry thier bikes.

Actually, the official quaff whilst shoveling snow is Mescal.

So...That was Friday January 27th. And today Friday February 3rd and I have heard nothing since. I am sure glad they understand my frustration because I really don't know what I would do if they didn't understand. I think it may be time to involve the Better Business Bureau and start bombing this company with poor performance reviews.

LOL!! They have to find it before they can fix it. IMO it's a plot against Canadians..

I am not even close to being confident that they are going to be able to fix anything. Personally I do not believe this to be a design failure. I believe that their material is not waterproof as they advertise. It may keep you dry standing in the rain or even riding at city speeds for shorter periods of time. I don't. As I have stated, my riding is comparable to standing in 70 MPH winds in the rain for an hour at a time. Like riding for an hour at 70MPH. Same thing.

So I ask that they cut to the chase and admit to me that there product is not water proof. It is weather resistant. Which is as good as any other product out there.

Now even if they could fix the jacket, you are right. They have to find it to fix it. But at what point do they determine the jacket is lost or stolen? How long do I, the customer wait until they determine what they failed at? My view is that a week has passed since they acknowledge me the last time. Accept your loss, lick you wounds and send me a new jacket. But for Christ sake, stay on top of correspondence so that the customer knows you are doing something.

They need to cut their losses on this and move on. I am not quite ready to give up. And, if you read this whole string of messages on this thread, I don't believe I have said anything that would be considered defamatory or slanderous towards Tourmaster.

What has gone by the wayside here though is that my department at work is looking to renew uniform jackets. My jacket was looked at quite favourably. I was prepared to go to bat for Tourmaster and there was a strong probability we would have gone with them. One of my roles at work is Occupational Health and Safety Co-Chair. My in-put into what we acquire for uniform is substantial with our department. Other departments within the corporation would likely follow suit. We are a corporation of several thousand employees, many of who require warm and dry clothing which is made of HiVis material. There are many vendors out there that I am sure will accept our business.

BB you joke about the plot against Canadians, and it was taken just that way. But in reality, Canadians make up 10% of the population base that Tourmaster caters to. A potential loss of 10% of business is substantial. Not that I have that kind of influence. I do however in the U.F.R.R.

I can't believe they did not next day air a gold plated version of the jacket to you the same day. Letting a week pass is ridiculous.

    I think they lost it.

    "Randy,
Thank you for taking the time to get me this information. We understand your frustration. We're not sure what happened to it. We'll work on tracking this down for you. We apologize for the inconvenience and lack of response on the e-mails. We will locate the jacket and move to get your return resolved.

    Kind regards,

    Robert
    Tour Master/Cortech"

I can see it now. Several thousand wet Canadians all in matching gold jackets "occupying" some poor little burg in East Timor where the jackets are made.

Boy, I wish you were around when those R/R's started crapping out..

You're a more patient man than I am.

The way they've handled this is preposterous. (I always need a good reason to use that word on this forum).

I wouldn't know where to begin, but could you "play the card" that Tourmaster has committed some sort of International mail fraud? You have the evidence and signature from your international mailing, and now they just ignore you? Claim the don't have it? DOn't acknowledge the signed receipt?

What about contacting our BBB? Do you have the equivalent in Canada that you could report them too?

Not that it amounts to anything, but I can tell you that I, personally, would probably never purchase something from them based on your experience. Fuck them.

I hope it works out for you, sir.

I thought preposterous was one of those bigass lizards you see in the National Geographic movies. ;)

The BBB is a joke. Try calling them sometime. You can buy ratings from them. Here's the deal on the way it works. Businesses buy into the program. They are the actual customers. Who comes first? Not the consumers.

The smart move before they "lost" the jacket would have been to take the damn thing back to the point of purchase. Let them handle it. Unless Randy bought it online or mail order, with a dealer ya got that eyeball contact and mano a mano or even mano a trono.

Bottom line. If ya buy a jacket and it says even in the nannoprint that it's "WATERPROOF" and it ain't take the SOB back.

I have had really good success with the BBB in the past dealing with Greyhound's loosing my golf clubs. I shipped them ahead of me when I went somewhere on the bike. The bus broke down and they left it un-guarded for a few days out in the middle of now where. Their trailer was broken into and among other things, my clubs were stolen. Greyhound said initially they had not record of my clubs. Well I did. I had the weigh bill. Anyways, they refused to pay. I contacted the BBB in Houston where Greyhound is headquartered and withing a month, I had a cheque in hand. So, the BBB of California is in my sights.

Also what I may do, is join every motorcycle forum I can find and re-post everything here. I have already sent Tourmaster the link to this thread so they may know that I speak my piece. I wouldn't think they would want this type of bad publicity. But that is an option.

I have heard many times about the dog eating homework but never eating golf clubs. BTW, Greyhound HQ is in Dallas, TX or Aberdeen, Scotland near where golf was invented. If you do post to a bunch of fora about your leak, post up some of the responses here to see if there were other solutions. Maybe you should ship a hair dryer and some towels along with your clubs next time you go on a long ride.

Twenty loonies sez the BBB after getting your clubs replaced tried to sell Greyhound a higher rating. BBB is getting sued for just that.

When I dealt with BBB on the clubs, they were up front in saying they could not guarantee they would get me my money. But that did happen and I was a happy camper. I have since replaced those old clubs with a new set of Cobras. But haven't swing a club since. I really must fix that. Lets see....unresolved dealings with a jacket manufacturer....unused golf clubs.....R3 in a few months....impending retirement....I seem to anticipate a future here....

If you pick up those clubs again my fave heated gear maker has some 18v jackets that plug into a golf cart. No one has been electrocuted as yet so the assumption is that the jackets don't leak..

May your retirement be below par.. ;)

    My oath......

    My message to them Friday:

    Robert.

You say that you understand my frustration. That was a week ago. I have
been patiently waiting for some news from Tourmaster. You seem to be
slipping down the same path as before. Quite frankly, I think it is just
absurd the way you have dealt with this issue. My father was in the customer
service business so I saw first hand how customer complaints should be
handled. I myself was a peace officer for over 25 years serving a customer
as well and had I handled any of my investigations the way Tourmaster has
handled this, I no doubt would have been subject of a Public Complaints
Investigation and would expect to be criticized for poor performance, if not
suspended from duty or even fired for neglect of duty.

By now you should have been able to determine if you in fact have this
jacket. If so, what is being done with it. If not, this means it was
either lost while in your control, or stolen. To be honest, I really don't
care which. Replace the jacket, or refund me the money I paid for it. I
will be more than happy to move along and buy another from one of your
    competitors.

Am I asking too much by suggesting I have some sort of answer from you or
someone who can make things happen at Tourmaster by the end of business day
    Monday, February 6?

    Randy

    And their replytoday:

    Randy,
We are embarrassed this continued to fall through the crack. This is not
typical of our company. A replacement jacket will be sent out no later than
tomorrow. Please standby for tracking information.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

    Kind regards,

    Robert
    Tour Master/Cortech

OK, so with a few threats, you get a new jacket. I suppose on one hand that's great. But the next question - assuming they actually do ship it out as promised - is what do you do when it shows up, you wear it in the rain, and it leaks again?
