I just wanted to get a second opinion on installing the top steering bearing.

I purchased the All Balls bearing set for my 2006. Looks like I have to tap the bearing on to the stem to seat it against the lower inner race on top. I'm assuming it needs to be seated pretty firm against the race.

My other assumption is that the bearing faces the front wheel? I haven't pulled it apart yet, I'm just looking at the manual.

"Bearing faces the front wheel????" I'm trying unsucessfully to understand.

Allballs is cheap Chinese crap, and i would never use any bearings not made in USA, Japan, or Germany

nevertheless, the bearing should slide into place without any tapping, and the adjustment nut determines how firmly the bearing seats. the exact tightness must be set, neither too loose nor too tight. use lots of grease.

you changed the lower steering bearing too, right?
