I wave to everyone on 2 wheels, but for harleys and scooters I tend to do a very pronounced limp wristed wave, ya know, just for shits and giggles.

I like waving, I wave to everybody and anybody. Even to the cows and sheep along the roadways at times. Why, because my waving makes me feel like this: [IMG]

I feel like royalty. The way I'm supposed to feel.........................

Its a trivial job, has to do with the pumps that drive Boeings and such. Not too much liability and paper work though. I am lying btw :loco:

    I enjoyed reading that ; )
Was suiting up today, with my hi-viz Stich suit at the end of the day, as I had no choice and had to ride to work knowing that it was going to rain. Its funny how even so called seasoned motorcyclists can't comprehend or wrap their small heads around that suit or the idea of actually gearing up for a ride/commute. Its a rain or shine suit. :vtr2: cheers

Today was my first time to ride my 1984 VF700 and coincidently the first time I have not been waved back at. It was a Hardley, he saw me wave at him, and decided to not return the gesture. Thanks hardley rider, you just lived up to all the hype.

They always wave back at me when I'm on my kz, I've read it's the round headlight that tricks them into the wave. Always thought you guys were exaggerating, guess you weren't. Hardley riders don't like other than round headlights. Oh well.

A guy on some 1000rr bike went round me at about 300 mph, hit the brakes, slowed to allow me to catch up, took a long look at me, flashed the peace sign and took off again. Another guy on a new green kawasaki sat at a right on red to check out my bike while I sat in the left turn lane. At the inspection station a guy sprinted over and asked me if it was a 1984...700, "yup...sure is"..."I had one just like it, wish I never sold it".

First ride, lots of attention, probably the first vf700 around here in a LONG time. Pretty cool.

I'd probably wave you down to check out the old 84 too!

Funny thing about Harley guys. Rarely do I get a wave. But this weekend, went to Yosemite with the wife up front on her bright yellow Can Am Spyder and me on my 07 RWB trailing behind. The Harley guys were falling all over themselves waving at the can am while I just got the sloppy left over tail end of the wave. At every rest or gas stop, various harley guys and girls would come over and start asking her about the spyder.

Oddly enough most of the sport bikers either didn't wave or made sure they were past the can am before throwing out a wave.

Incidentally, saw a gang of about 10 scooters cruising up to Yosemite. They were so cute in their gear and pastel mopeds, I had to wave. They all waved back.

I think if I were ever to ride a harley, I would refrain from waving at anyone, any time. I would be to concerned about fuggen hanging on for dear life than to remove my hand for a friendly gesture. Just say'n.

Interesting. If anything, I've found BMW riders are the most consistently friendly, and most consistent wavers. I mean heck, they're rich guys wearing the Aerostitch suit I want on vacation, why wouldn't they be in a good mood?

Honestly I wave at all motorcyclists, and most places I've ridden (California, Washington, NY, all over the West touring), the majority wave back. The only exception I've found is here in Eugene, OR in which the Harley riders almost universally will not wave to anyone not on a Harley. This sort of dickish behavior is, however, something I've come to expect in Oregon so it's hardly surprising.

If I'm ever as rich as Randy I'm going to hire a midget to do the waving for me...or Long, he's small enough that I wouldn't notice the weight.

Even Spyders? Really? I'm not waving unless they have no legs. ( I know, highly insensitive...)

I think "the wave" denotes that we, as riders, are part of a larger group and that in some way we understand and even care about each other. This is a bit off topic but have you ever stopped for another rider in trouble? A few weeks ago I was headed home and I passed a guy on a sport bike running like 5 miles an hour, going the opposite direction on the shoulder of the road. I thought about it and thought that if I was in trouble and that was me it would be nice if someone offered to help. I slowed, hung a u-turn and rode up beside him. It turns out I had met him before at my hometown gas station and few months prior. (He remembered my yellow Viffer.) It turns out he was looking for a friends wallet. They were riding in the area and he want back to scout for the missing billfold.

BTW, I wave to spiders and sometimes "moo" at cows.
