    Hingley and Motleyfan,
I think you and the others have convinced me that it'd be worthwhile keeping it in one piece. It's what would make me feel better, anyway. I sincerely would like to see it back on the road, doing what it was built to do. As far as not selling it, I am not a guy who likes to see stuff sit around and go unused. I would, for example, ride an NR750 if I had one, because it wasn't made to put in a glass case. Since I am apparently a guy who appreciates the VFR from afar, and feel more comfortable being at the limit on four wheels, I will almost certainly be selling it, so someone else can be its caretaker for a good while.

Hingley, I do have the seat cowl, BTW. I would prefer to sell it with the bike, but if the new owner doesn't want it, I will announce that here.

For completeness, here are pics of the optional seat cowl, which I forgot to take pics of earlier.

Also, someone asked about location. The bike is in Fairhope, AL 36532. We are near the Gulf Coast, on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, in L.A.(Lower Alabama :lemo:).

@Badbilly, I am definitely not an expert, but I think the can is original, stock Honda. I have been wrong before, of course.

The exhaust can looks like original to me
The seat cowl looks almost new, just like the bike
How far would I be off if I guessed there was roughly 10,000 miles on it

Could be.. I bought my 91 from a relatively new on the block Honda dealer. They had installed a Yoshimura can on the machine. Just at the last moment and before I "signed on the dotted line" and handed these dudes six grand, I told them I would be in the next day to get the stock can. They balked, I walked. Changed their minds before I hit the bricks. Sold the stocker to another dealer for cash. Relatives in the car biz..

Your seat cowl new, was also not OEM and in the 100 buck range.

Okay, I have slept on it, and the bike is officially for sale. I am going to start here, since you guys are knowledgeable enthusiasts of the marque and model.

I would like to start the bidding at $3,000, and will entertain reasonable offers. I will help deliver if the buyer is sort of close, maybe meet halfway, or assist a buyer who wants to ship it in case they're further away.

Not sure if I understand the request. You want to trade rear fenders, but also send me some money? Is it safe to assume that yours is compromised in some way? With the goal of selling the bike whole, I think that might lower the value of mine in the eyes of the buyer, not being original, and possibly then being in worse condition, so I'd probably have to decline for now. If that situation changes, please keep me in mind.

Not sure what you're saying about the OEM end can on that bike, but while the 3rd gen cowl and center stand (and clock) were not OE, they were OEM--manufactured by Honda, for Honda, for sale as Hondaline accessories in the USA (and included with the bike in the ROW). I bought my US-spec '90 FL new and (inexplicably!) declined my dealer's offer to sell me the cowl or clock, but I did opt for the center stand and the workshop manual.

GWS, HiFiGuy1. (But I would have paid BIG BUCKS for a perfect tank, lol)

    Ciao,

Wow I am amazed, with 41,000 miles on the clock your bike is truly great shape, you must have been right when you said the last owner stored the bike in the living room.
If that bike was up here with 41,000 miles it would be in rough shape due to the poor storage most have during our long winter
Good luck on the sale, wish you were closer.

As I mentioned, I will help load the bike for a shipper, if you want to give it a new life in Canada!

I do, actually. Anyone interested in a brand-new Datasat RA2400 power amplifier? $12,000 new, and I'll sell it for $8k or best offer. I will even pay shipping for an offer within 10% of that. It's effin' heavy, like over 100 lbs heavy, so that's a bigger deal than it sounds. It's still sitting in the box it was in when I received it. Never even taken it out or opened it to look at it. Full disclosure, I am the owner of Apex AV Systems, so I am a dealer for Datasat, among other things. Therefore, it will be under the full term of the manufacturer's warranty, starting from the day you buy it. I bought the amp from Datasat at a trade show in Atlanta, GA thinking I'd put it in my theater, but just don't need it.
