This guy talks funny and I sorta wish he would maybe show some surfer flix on a snowbank to demo this gadget. I suppose you could do that if there are any surfers up your way..

If that doesn't work oot, I have an old 16mm sound projector and a couple of porn flix in B&W for sale real cheap..

Santa brought my Atlas Throttle Lock late on Christmas Eve. I just installed it and gave it a brief test ride. Thanks to a fine instructional video on the Atlas site it was all easy and works on my bike (smaller clamp arm on tightest position, thinnest friction pad). I'll need some more practice to keep from goosing the throttle when I push the lock button - wish that didn't require so much push. Thanks for the suggestion; now I'm going to be looking forward to the long rides.

The spring will break in a little.

Mine is super easy to operate now. It was a little stiff at first. You can also try to increase the gap between the friction pad and control housing.

Glad you like it!! I love mine!

I have a 2014 Deluxe with heated grips.

I just ordered the Atlas and tried a quick fit...it's obvious the grip flange will need to be trimmed back but I don't see how it can be done without affecting the heated grip line inlet that is flush with the outer flange. I'm worried about trying to trim that and cutting the line. The other option I thought of was to try to push the whole grip out toward the bar end, but there is almost no room to do that either without affecting thee free play between the grip and the bar end.

Anyone have any good tips? What am I missing?

The Atlas fits on my 2014, but I don't have the heated grips. I did have to pull the rubber back over the hard plastic sleeve ("grip flange" in your message) in order to get room. It works, but I'm currently waiting for a bar-end lock from KAOKO, custom-made for the 2014. If it works, I'll put full details here.

You'd think Honda would just make the throttle lock a standard part for their sport-tourers, wouldn't you?

You (or some other helpful reader) mentioned this before and I looked at Throttlemeister also. Neither Throttlemeister nor Kaoko list a fitting for the VFR800 2014 as a standard product. I liked the knurley-wheel design of the Kaoko, thinking it would be easier to operate with winter-weight gloves than the smoother surface of the 'meister. I may try the 'meister also; still waiting for delivery on the Kaoko. Thanks.

I'm not a fan of the bar end locks; too awkward for me and the arthritis I have in my fingers.

I wrote to Atlas. To their credit they got back to me within a couple of hours. They suggested unbolting the throttle housing, rotating the grip (so the heated line part of the flange doesn't need to be trimmed I assume) and then bolting the housing back on. I'll look at again tonight to see if it's possible/practical. My sense is it isn't but I'll look carefully.

Of course, a full factory cruise control would've been nice!

Yes, you may need to rotate the grip a bit so that the heated lines aren't in the way.

I had to do this on my 2002 with aftermarket Oxford Heated Grips. If you look at my Atlas thread, there should be photos to give you an idea.

Yup, the grip is going to need to be rotated and pulled back toward the bar end and trimmed a bit on that side. The factory grips seem to be glued on, so it's a bigger job than it might seem. Might/might not need to disconnect the heated grip line, take off the bar end, pry off the glued grip, clean up the glue on the throttle tube, apply glue, re-install the grip but rotated forward, and trim the end. Oh well, that's life sometimes!

Just a note of interest ... I didn't need to 'unbolt' anything. I simply rotated the grip on the bar / throttle tube.

Mine took about 10 minutes to install - but it may have been easier since I did it when I installed the new aftermarket grips (no glue to deal with on existing grips so to speak). :)

I didn't need to trim the grip ends either since you only need just a tiny amount of gap between the grip and the control housing.

Just installed my new throttle lock from KAOKO. It's their part number HND29, custom made for me and now available for you too. The knobby locking wheel at the bar end is easier to lock than the push button on the Atlas. (The Atlas works too and I'm keeping it, but it's still hard on my arthritic thumb.) I'm sending KAOKO a series of installation photos to make it easier for customers to put this on their VFRs.

Are you sure your part # is HND29? I got one too, and all my research showed to get the HND31, and it fits perfectly, and has a larger bar end weight that matches the other side's factory weight.

The HND31 is for a 19mm i.d. bar. My 2014VFR handlebar is a little narrower, 18.9 mm, so I asked for one with that dimension. Maybe the #31 would have fit, but the one they sent was numbered HND29 and fit my bar. It's attractive and easy to use.

    Glad yours worked too.

Evaluation after 8400 miles: I fitted both the Atlas and Kaoko throttle locks for this month's trip. At first the Atlas was painful to engage (way to much pressure required) but eventually it got better. Then at 4000 miles the pressure pad disintegrated.
The Kaoko works but the concept of a bar-end lock seems to be crazy. For the remainder of the trip I used the Kaoko, but it would disengage when I made small throttle adjustments.
I also felt that the Atlas was hard to engage without goosing the throttle when wearing winter-weight gloves. The Kaoko was more suitable with the heavy gloves. The Atlas was easy to use with summer-weight gloves.
I'll order some more pressure pads for the Atlas.

Be very careful with the Kaoko
I have two friends that launch their GS into the tree and off the clip from the Kaoko throttle lock.

This one is the best IMO

Another perfectly good reason to employ the use of the Throttlemeister. The others do not seem to have much of a social conscience when it involves trees.

    ThrottleMeister

Another satisfied ThrottleMeister customer. Called them to order the correct model, it showed up in 2 days, installation took about 30 minutes and was a perfect fit. I've used one of these on a previous bike and after some time with it the technique becomes second nature.

What is the part no# for the 800FD? I sent Throttlemeister a couple of emails and never heard back and it still isn't listed for the 2014 that I can see.
