Therapy with Doctor Viff, Ph.D. Motorcycleology,

"When you reflect upon your two wheeled experience of yestermile, I want you to think, do you see the gas tank as half full or half empty? No, seriously, you need to be mindful of these things so you don't run out of gas again, get picked up by Bruno in an 18 wheeler and need therapy again."

Hey...that's an awesome fix there...I wish everything could be that simple...but maybe without the small embarrassment...lol.

Glad that's working for you now.

And as was previously said, Make sure you get a charger on that batterey...or you will find yourself buying a new one...lol...well maybe. But a 2 amp charger will keep the battery in much better condition. I've been told to put it on once a month just to top it off...

If I were you I would still install a new fuel filter.

A friend of mine had the same symptoms on his '86 and it was the filter.

Now he carries a spare filter, which I think is a great idea.

i will be. in fact i am not even using a fuel filter at the moment. i plan to get 2 more spark plugs and a filter.

would be nice to replace the tank since the fuel sensor and peacock went out.

Dude, you are an honest man. If that was me, I would have come up with some story about how I followed all the suggestions and then flushed out the system and put new gas in and it all runs great!

well. it wasent exactly out of gas. the peacock valve must be broke because i am not getting use of the bottom of the tank. so i looked into the tank and there was gas in it. so logically i would not think of it being gas because there is gas in the tank.

i figured it out working on the fuel pump and noticed nothing comming from the fuel line when it was laying there, until i tiped the gas tank back.

I still think there was somethign else wrong because when the battery went dead i did have gas in it. and i got a jump start and let it charge the batttery, i drove fine for a while till the battery went dead again.

i do not seem to have that problem now.

had similar problem with my 84 nighthawk, but mine turned out to be bad vent on the gascap, would not suck in air and so after a riding for a bit, would open "run out of gas" let sit for a min , open the tank then it would run again. are you sure you valve workes in both the on, and reserver positions?
