First off, I agree with Slothrop! My days of car envy are done...read on.

I like your taste in cars. The new Camaro is dead sexy. I've owned two Z28's (no mullets). I had a Hugger Orange 99 LS1 model and a green 95 LT1. I loved the Orange Z. Searched a long time for one in orange. Finally found one....in an automatic, doh! I remember clear as day walking up to the driver's side window with my fingers crossed that it was a manual, no dice. Sooo I put in a big cam, big coverter, exhaust, caged it blah blah blah. Got it into the hight 11's with the stock heads. I started to grenade parts left and right at that point. Blew through a built 4L60E in 500 miles! What a waste of $2500 that was! In fairness the car held up well to the beating I gave it. I took it relatively easy until it had 900 miles on it, then it was hammer down all the time including a ton of drag passes and countless street encounters. Life circumstances brought an end to the relationship with the car but I remember it fondly. That car was nearly unbeatable from a stop. Man the stories I have....

While I loved my Camaro(s), they were way past their time and lacked the quality that I prefer to have in a new vehicle. I bought mine because they were the cheapest, fastest option out there. Mustangs never did it for me personally. They have always been dogs in my opinion. The ratio of HP per dollar was the best with the F-body so that's what I bought. I bought my 95 and 99 because "I" liked 'em. I didn't care what anyone else thought much like I do today when it comes to my vehicle/bike selections.

It's been clear to me for some time that GM and others do not educate their salesman like say Honda and Acura, Toyota Mazda, etc. In my experience, salesman at GM are pushers, not product specialists at all. I know several people I went to school with who are now in the car business, all I can do is shake my head because they are the model of a car salesman. Clueless and undriven. Even with all that I don't blame GM issues on salesman, they build average cars at best. With an increasingly educated customer base, average doesn't fly.

I no longer justify spending money for new or even close to new vehicles given my personal economic situation, but if I was going to, I would at least look at the new Camaro. Highly unlikely that I would buy one again but I would at least look. As mentioned above, cars just don't do it for me anymore so why waste the money when I can go the track instead and have fun. The only thing depreciating there is my own body!

Don't pay too much attention to those depression ads, Obama won. Don't forget to recycle those beer cans too. Those funny little brown guys are now using them to make VFRs.

"Inside stuff" Working the "patch" I got hold of "The Blue Flame." from some Dresser-Magcobar dudes. WWWW White Lightnin! Great fishin off the Arco platform in Ventura. Lots of white seabass in the tetrapods and lobster if ya know how to rig a Hawaiian banjo with pantyhose and nice ripe fishheads.

I thought I was the only one thinking this.

At one point in my life I loved cars. Almost ended up with a couple I really loved (66 Impala, 69 Torino and few others) But things just fell through. The only exception was the Torino. But a little voice in my head said "let it go". Man, walking away from that car on the lot was hard. I could have bought it, it was in decent shape. The price was right. All the right circumstances.

A few months later, the bike bug started and now I dispize most cars.

But IF I had cash to blow on a car, the Audi TT or Lotus Elise interest me highly:smile:

P.S. KC, not trying to hijack, just having my own little conversation with Two here at the party.

Wow, havent heard of that one for a while.....heehee

Every other person I knew in those days had at least one rehab stay...........doh!

More like fish harvesting, run down in between taking readings, pry some mussells off the landing, decide how many fish you wanted, rig up that number of hooks, pull up some ling cod, clean it, put it in the freezer, go back to work. Takes about 20 minutes. Take home the freezer bag and fire up the grill, free dinner.

LOL..The "Flame" was just a start point. The Petrochemical Engineering Libraries at the UofHouston and Rice were most helpful.. Even built a lambic just for grins.

Mussles sort of fall apart fishing in the pods. Great bait but the wave action around the pod legs creates high shear. Best I found was to take an ab and cut just a thin slice out of the foot. They regenerate so I just stuck them back on the the pilings or pod legs.
