Well, the party had to end sometime. It has.

I left Lompton yesterday morning for good. There was a tearful goodbye at 0630 with Reg in a TIE(if you can believe it) and Brian in a bathrobe.
Reggie was tearful because he has to buy all the beer from now on and Brian was tearful because of all the rent money he would soon be missing out on.
I was tearful(tears of joy!) because I got to have a road trip on my favorite moto with my wife and my bed at then end of it!

    My next assignment?

University of Arizona Medical Center. 3 months in Tucson. I will be in Tucson 3 days a week for work, then home the rest of the time. This puts me close to family for the holidays. So, Arizona folks hit me up if you want to ride or just hang out. I know there are Tucsonians around. Let's hear from you!

Arizona is friggin beautiful this time of year. If you are planning a ride through the desert, now is the time to do it.

Southern Az is still low 90s during the day, but cools off at night. Up here in the northern hills it is 80s during the day and cools down to 40s at night. There is actually snow on the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff. Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon are stunning, but come during the week to avoid most of the tourists.

January/ February will be nice in the southern areas of the state. Up north here will be cold and snowy in many parts. By then I should have the lay of the land in Tucson and will be able to give a better ride report.

Yes. Now is the perfect time. Terri would love it too. We still need to go wine tasting. Plenty of that around here.

Apparently, they are having a spate of wild jaguar in Tucson at the moment.
So If you do go riding there, do not dress in zebra or girrafe patterns.

I dunno. We are kind of wine snobs. We like only red or white and we require that the alcohol be included with the wine.

Damn, there goes that surprise. Does zebra thong riding entice the jaguar too much?

89 A from Cottonwood to Prescott is the TITS right now. Perfect temperatures, new pavement, low tourist action during the week.
I have ridden it twice in the last 2 weeks and have had a blast.

My Google map buds say 44.1 miles and takes an hour and ten minutes. So how long does it really take?

Real stuff, not what some of these dudes who could whupass on Stoner riding a 50cc Honda stepthrough doing a wheelie the whole distance.

That one section looks like some serious twisties..

It really only takes about 45 minutes. The hill is comprised of many 15, 20, and 25 mile an hour switchbacks.
There is a huge tourist trap called Jerome, Az(an old mining town) on the Cottonwood side. The tourists and looky-loos crowd the best parts of the road every weekend, so the best riding times are during the week. In winter, there is snow and ice up top due to the peak being over 6,000 feet. The other 10 months are quite nice(if you don't mind a little heat in summer time).

I bet it's really nice this time of year. I did 89 to prescott two weeks ago and prescott was 75 degrees at noon. Also very nice pavement. Need to do that 89A again.
