alright, reset to 7-7.1 mm. Just a general question. All of the jets I pulled and put in seem to have a lot of exposed thread. They are secure, but just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something.

Ooof. I would almost ask how could someone do that but I have similar results at my work by poor techs.

Carb leak down. No fancy IV but this seems to work. Fuel was seeping from #1 carb bowl. My suspicions were correct. Old o-ring left a raised build up and didn’t allow the new oring to seal. Lightly sanded the oring surface, cleaned, and put back on. No leak after 1hr.

While that is going on I’m completing the 750/f2/929 prep. Sonic bath, tap and reassemble.

Re-installed carbs, hook shit up and bam! One pull on the trigger and she fired right up. Time to prep for a ride before the sun goes down.

I had good mojo until I hit 8k rpms (9+ in lower gears). Still some kind of loss of power. Almost feels like lack of fuel or ignition. That problem was at 5k last time, now it moved up the rpms. Although I am not running any air filter, just the metal mesh unit open. I will put on the K&N tomorrow when the sun is up and give it another go, unless the almighty forum peeps kick in with more info. Also, I don't have a carb sync gauge, but not sure how that would cure this issue.
We are close, just need more understanding of carbs on my end. I definitely has more power than before though. No rough idle, no heavy fuel smell, no backfires, no fuel leaks, nothing but loss of power (cutting out) at high rpms. Maybe some kind of air leak or just too much air coming through the intake? I am at a loss.
The bike also had a weird fluttery sound on the right hand side of the carbs at those high rpms. Maybe that is intake noise or something?

You need to run a filter for it to run right. Not saying that is your only problem, but they don't like it.

That jetting with a filter should be tits. If you still have problems, it's likely elsewhere.

carb synch has alot of influence at speeds around idle and just a bit above but almost no effect at higher speeds over about 3000-4000 or 1/4 throttle.

:Boobies3 Is the term capt 80’s described this carb setup potential. Indeed ! She just wanted the filter back on like any self respecting bike.

So it only rains like 10-13 inches a year here and in three weeks we have had 10”. But I needed to know if it was my stupidity about the air filter or something else I bungled. So I took her out and wouldn’t you know the heavy rain cleared for 10 minutes. Just enough for me to get 8 miles in, test with the air filter, and lots of standing water.

Last time I rode in the rain I was leading my twins race at Miller by 42 sec looking for puddles to keep my tires cool. Well this bike flat out flies now and I couldn’t contain my glee. 110 in the rain and wishing I had known good tires. This bike has a wide power band but really gets cooking over 8200 -ish. Don’t tell my wife.

A huge thanks to all on all forum for great help and instruction. She will be going on to to mods and looking pretty next. Some F2 wheels being the only real mod. image.jpg

Yeah, it felt rewarding once I retested with the filter in...lol I can't wait to get the suspension sorted and the larger wheels on. Now that the bike is running she is going to sit as-is for a bit to let my financials gather speed. But the way she is now, at least I can ride for errands and possibly even go to work or just cruise once this rain clears.
